INFEMI SOE 2014 (Day 4) – Partnering With The Purpose Of God: INFEMI Sermon By Bishop Mulumbi
Joshua son of Nun sent two men secretly from Shittim as scouts, saying, Go, view the land, especially Jericho. And they went and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab and lodged there. It was told the king of Jericho, Behold, there came men in here tonight of the Israelites to search out the country. And the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men who have come to you, who entered your house, for they have come to search out the land. But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. So she said, Yes, two men came to me, but I did not know from where they had come. And at gate closing time, after dark, the men went out. Where they went I do not know. Pursue them quickly, for you will overtake them. But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them under the stalks of flax which she had laid in order there. So the men pursued them to the Jordan as far as the fords. As soon as the pursuers had gone, the city’s gate was shut.
Joshua 2:1-7
Now then, I pray you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father’s house, and give me a sure sign, And save alive my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all they have, and deliver us from death. And the men said to her, Our lives for yours! If you do not tell this business of ours, then when the Lord gives us the land we will deal kindly and faithfully with you. Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was built into the [town] wall so that she dwelt in the wall.
Joshua 2:12-15
So the two men descended from the mountain, passed over [the Jordan], and came to Joshua son of Nun, and told him all that had befallen them. They said to Joshua, Truly the Lord has given all the land into our hands; for all the inhabitants of the country are faint because of us.
Joshua 2:23-24
There is a prophetic highway that God always passes through. He places people there that He has ordained to handle the purpose of God.
1. See
Rahab saw the 2 men but she did not see the 2 men. She saw the purpose of God. God conceives a purpose and puts the purpose in a man.
If you don’t see the purpose, your perception, mentality and attitude will always be wrong.
See beyond the person into the purpose of God. It’s not about the form (package), it’s about the content.
Rahab’s survival was in seeing the purpose. The purpose of God can save your life. It can deliver you. But it also can destroy you.
You can’t handle the purpose unless you handle the carrier of purpose.
2. Acknowledge
There are people who see the purpose of God but refuse to acknowledge the purpose of God.
The purpose of God makes you who you are.
3. Accept
There are people that see, acknowledge and refuse to accept the purpose of God.
Before God causes you to succeed, He plants you in a purpose, a place of opportunity.
Without being spiritual, you cannot understand the things of God.
God brought you into a place where there is a purpose. You are strategically and prophetically placed to handle the purpose of God.
4. Receive
What you can’t see, acknowledge and accept, you can’t receive.
The purpose of God will not be able to take you to your destiny until you are able to receive it.
5. Hide
Hide the purpose of God in your heart. Rahab refused the purpose of God to die in her house.
The purpose of God is not for you only. It is for many generations. If you kill the purpose, you kill your destiny.
When God conceives a purpose, He releases an anointing that equals the purpose. You need to draw out the anointing in the purpose within you.
6. Protect
Protect the purpose of God.
Rahab stood at the door to protect the spies (purpose of God).
7. Preserve
Maintain the quality. Preservers are dust removers. Preserve the purpose of God.
When you stop seeing the purpose, you start seeing the man (carrier of purpose) and then you start misbehaving.
God will never plant you somewhere unless He wants to make you something.
There is a place & time of your greatness and you need Moses, who cannot speak well, because he carries a vision that will birth your destiny.
When you understand that God has planted you in a place of purpose, you will do everything to preserve it.
Rahab did 7 things. She perfected her service to God.
8. Continue The Purpose
Let the purpose pass into its destiny because there is another generation coming after you.
So the men said to her: “We will be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made us swear, unless, when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you bring your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household to your own home. So it shall be that whoever goes outside the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we will be guiltless. And whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head if a hand is laid on him. And if you tell this business of ours, then we will be free from your oath which you made us swear.”
Joshua 2:17-20 (NKJV)
Preservers of the purpose of God shall be hidden.
Then the Lord appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground, and said, “My Lord, if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant. Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. And I will bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh your hearts. After that you may pass by, inasmuch as you have come to your servant.” They said, “Do as you have said.”
So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quickly, make ready three measures of fine meal; knead it and make cakes.” And Abraham ran to the herd, took a tender and good calf, gave it to a young man, and he hastened to prepare it. So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate. Then they said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” So he said, “Here, in the tent.” And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.”
(Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” And the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. And He said, “No, but you did laugh!”
Genesis 18:1-15 (NKJV)
Put your resources where your mouth is. Prophetic moments do not speak to your need until you minister to the prophetic moment.
Anything that you honour or value, you will invest in it. You cannot partner with the purpose of God until you partner with the carrier of purpose.
