The Name Of God – Part 2: Sermon By Apostle Gobanga

And they who know Your name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of and for) You [on the authority of God’s Word and the right of their necessity]. 

Psalm 9:10 (AMP)

Names have everything to do with relationships. They reveal the very substance of a person, God or an object found in an environment.

Everything created has a name. It takes one with divine revelation like Adam to give it a name.

The name of the Lord stands for His person and character. It denotes those things or attributes that He has revealed unto us.

All the attributes of God put together help us to comprehend the very nature of God. He has made know unto us His power, justice, truth, holiness – all these attribute help us know who He is – substance and personality.

The name of God stands for everything that God is and the works of God.

When you call on the name of the Lord, you are invoking something about Him.

God has only one name. The other names in Scripture are descriptors of who He is. Pet names if you will. You use these names when you have a revelation of who He is.

e.g. Nissi: The Lord our banner. God is moved by our cries when we call on Him.

e.g. Jireh: Provider for Himself. He provided for Himself a ram for sacrifice for the Glory of His name.

He is moved by our faith in Him and His immutable character, justice, works, etc. Not by tears or not desperation.

God regards them that tremble at His word – not at His feet.

God comes/chooses to intervene in your situation based on the revelation of Himself that you have.

God does not respond to desperation, but to them that approach Him from a place of faith.

People have become familiar with God.

When you capture the revelation of the person of God, you will never become familiar with Him and you will be in step with the Spirit.

When you say something, it is that which God is saying to you. When you speak, it is as if God Himself is speaking. And when you talk about God, it should be such that you know Him so well, that His very character is very evident within you and through you.

When you love something or someone, it is a result of the overflow of the love you have drawn from the Throne Room.

When you commune with people and share with them, it is as a result of your experiences in God.

You need to get the very nature of God. His very character and nature should ebb and over flow from within us.

When you call on the name of the Lord, you invoke the presence of the entire Godhead.

The name of the Lord is the manifestation of His divine character – holiness, justice – in how He transacts to His character.

Our God is a God of transaction, but He at times finds it hard to transact with humanity because we do not have His Character. We are not willing to let go of the things that we need to so as to take on His nature. We want His nature, but are unwilling to do what it takes to have it and to walk in it.

Be holy as I am Holy.

For I am the Lord Who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God; therefore you shall be holy, for I am holy. 

Leviticus 11:45

Holiness is a state. Righteousness is the manifestation of holiness. Righteousness reacts to sin by judging it.

Salvation is the righteousness of God revealed. Sin is judged and atoned for on the Cross.

We were created to give glory to God and to manifest Christ.

The highest form of ignorance is the ignorance towards God and His name i.e. towards His character, towards His nature and towards His attributes. The highest form of illiteracy is not never having gone to school, but it is not having an awareness and a knowledge of God.

God’s name is fundamental in that it reveals all that pertains to divinity.

The name of Jesus is not a title. It is the name given to Him by the Father. It has all power and authority.

By divine revelation & wisdom, you will know when to call for the power of God to manifest itself.

And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases. 

Luke 9:1

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 

Luke 10:19

God revealed Himself to the patriarchs depending on where they were in their journey.

Abraham saw many aspects of God because he was a pioneer in the faith. He obeyed God out of the Ur of the Chaldees into a land that God would show him.

How God uses another may be different from how He wants to use you. He wants to use you uniquely.

Every time God want to show you another level, He must show you another aspect of Him.

When bad things come to you, it is God seeking to manifest to you another level of Himself to and through you. Christ died and went down to hell before He could be exalted. The lower you are, the higher that God wants to take you.

God does not promote people by taking you higher but by taking your lower. He strips you of everything before he can elevate you in the realms of the Spirit. He is taking you high not for yourself but for Himself to show forth His glory not our own.

All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. 

Isaiah 66:2

There will be divine pandemonium in the Church as some close down when God restore true order as per His mind and heart.

God wants you to have fellowship and communion with Him. You will have a personalized revelation of who He is.

God is tired of people complaining about their situations instead of worshipping Him in their situations.

Issues get sorted at the place of relationship. Mountains melt down like wax because you have Him in your life not because you have called on Him.

He is the source of life and all manner of existence. Let us see God as everything.

God wants us to come to the place of understanding that He is the source of life and the solution to all of our problems.

There is a place in your walk in God everything in life that does not have eternal relevance is a non-issue.

God may leave you in a state of despondency not to tempt you. God does not tempt people but He allows circumstances to try and test your faith in Him.

He wants us to come to the place where we understand who He is. Where we understand that He will allow certain things to happen so as to test us. To test our faith. So that we may understand that we belong to Him. That we bear His Name. To understand that when we live contrary to this Truth, then our lives are blasphemous unto God.

God lives in eternity and you live in time and space. For you to get a breakthrough you need to access eternity.

Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven. Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and [r]everything]they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven. For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them. 

Matthew 18:18-20

When you talk about God, it should be such that you know Him so well that His very character is very evident within you and through you.
