The Genesis Of Service: Sermon By Apostle Gobanga
I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.
Romans 12:1 (AMP)
The call of service is a call that is qualified by the mercies of God. It is an act of the heart based on what God has done not what you have done. It is based on the finished work of Christ on the Cross and not based on what you have done.
Service is a factor of the finished work of Christ on the Cross.
The call and ordinations of God over your life cannot be held hostage by your past or weaknesses.
You must live like a child of God that has been forgiven. God has accomplished everything. Yours is to appropriate the life of Christ.
If you are going into service so that God can show you mercy, then you are missing it. Live in the reality of one that has been shown mercy.
Where does service begin? Service begins with a personal dedication to God. This is a state whereby you are wholeheartedly devoted unto God.
Dedication is consecration unto Jesus. It means you are pledging allegiance unto Christ.
If you have no dedication unto God, then you cannot serve Him.
Service begins with your personal dedication unto God. (Reference: Romans 12:1)
Service is not just a dedication unto God but there is a place where God expects us to begin our journey of service.
The altar is the only place you begin service. No altar, no service. No altar, no life.
A Christian who is a failure in his life is a Christian who has failed at the place of his altar. They have fallen short of divine transactions at the altar.
There is no sacrifice that can be offered without an altar.
If you want to be successful in your life as a believer, have an altar and know how to handle an altar. Mess around with an altar and receive a curse. Mess around with an altar and you miss out.
You need to know how to minister to Him at the Cross or the altar.
The altar is a place where you die to yourself. You do not come on your own terms, or your own way.
You must apply the principles of God at the altar.
Every altar has a person.
When you are approaching an altar, it is your obedience that matters.
God does not want us to come to His presence in our own terms. Every altar has a principle. Approach the altar of God on His terms.
God will not favour a renegade believer. He is categorical when it comes to His presence.
When you lose out on your altar, you lose out on the move of God and you lose out on your life.
You need a personal altar. Certain transactions are exclusive of fellowship and need you to commune with God.
If you do not have an altar, you are dead all the more.
The altar is the place where you get life. At the Cross is where we became alive. It is that place where you received life.
You must have the right attitude when you approach the altar – about people, about God, about yourself, about church.
God is categorical about the state of your heart, your emotions and transactions. You cannot transact with God when you have bitterness in your heart.
Until you sort out your heart, you will capture purpose but not be able to appropriate it in your life.
Sometimes you might want to reconcile but it takes the hand of God to reconcile. Take it upon yourself to forgive. This is the only way to release yourself and also them.
Be careful of the state of your heart, especially if you hear God because when you release what you have heard to another, they may receive your pain and heartache instead of the word of God.
If you heart/altar is defiled, it defiles the sacrifice.
To receive from God, you must be in the right state of heart. You can never have a fullness of the prophetic word of God unless your heart is whole.
Love goes beyond likes and dislikes. The motive for you to serve God and people must be love, not like.
It is not possible for you to love somebody unless you love yourself. You cannot love yourself unless you love God. You cannot love God unless He reveals His love to you. And when He reveals it, you need to receive it.
The motive for service must be love. How you love people will prove that you love God.
Love will require you to wait and be patient.
The call to service is much more than we think. It takes an altar for you to be aligned to the placement of service.
You cannot approach the altar of the Cross when you are carnal. The altar of the Cross of Christ will enable you to minister at the place of the marketplace.
Every sacrifice that should be brought to God must be acceptable. It is not enough for it to be good.
Every sacrifice must be Holy and undefiled. It must be a sacrifice that is perfect according to His word and the principles of His Holy Law.
Your life as a living sacrifice will be qualified as perfect when you apply the principles of being a living sacrifice unto God. It must be exclusively in accordance to the word of God and with His ways.
God wants us to offer our lives daily. Approach the altar daily.
You must offer your life at the altar daily.
Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Romans 12:2 (AMP)
God is expecting us not to conform to the world (friendship with the world). Your way of thinking has to change. This is by allowing the Word of God to be your philosophy and renew your mind daily.
You need to think how God thinks. Unless you see people from the way God sees them, you’ll be prejudiced.
The purpose of God has no regard for circumstance as it cares for the heart and mind of God.
The biggest problems we have in life are in how we perceive.
God wants us to be in the marketplace to be relevant and provide solutions to our generation.
The Word of God that is being preached must be prophetic not theological. It must be in season.
To go into service, you must know the will of God for your life and for the place or people He sends you to.
The will of God must be good, perfect and acceptable. The will of God defines the purpose of God. The purpose of God is the culmination of the will of God. (Reference – Romans 12:2)
You need to be serviced by God to be able to serve people. What are you going to offer them? Christians are failing in the marketplace because they are offering people in the world what those people already have.
Having skills at the marketplace is not enough. God is looking for someone walking in purpose.
A time is coming when your qualifications at the marketplace will not be enough but your integrity is what will qualify you for promotion.
The world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God – who have attained maturity and are consistent, they know how to abase even when they do not have.
The call to service will require you to change your thinking. You must have a very big heart that is accommodating.
Those that God is going to use in the coming revival must have their systems upgraded; a people that are flexible, people that have deprogrammed their prejudices.
Sometimes our upbringing has caused us to be so prejudiced. This is why it is necessary for us to allow God to renew our minds.
God desires us to be achievers but we cannot be achievers alone. When people join hands together, they will achieve more.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment poured on the head, that ran down on the beard, even the beard of Aaron [the first high priest], that came down upon the collar and skirts of his garments [consecrating the whole body]. It is like the dew of [lofty] Mount Hermon and the dew that comes on the hills of Zion; for there the Lord has commanded the blessing, even life forevermore [upon the high and the lowly].
Psalm 133:1-3 (AMP)
God desires for us to have synergy with other people.
God wants you to present your mind, your emotions and your will to Him daily.
