Why We Worship God: Sermon By Minister Innocent Kinara
By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.
Hebrews 11:3 (AMP)
But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].
Hebrews 11:6 (AMP)
For who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord? Who among the mighty [heavenly beings] can be likened to the Lord, A God greatly feared and revered in the council of the holy (angelic) ones, and to be feared and worshipfully revered above all those who are round about Him? O Lord God of hosts, who is a mighty one like unto You, O Lord? And Your faithfulness is round about You [an essential part of You at all times]. You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves arise, You still them. You have broken Rahab (Egypt) in pieces; with Your mighty arm You have scattered Your enemies. The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; the world and all that is in it, You have founded them. The north and the south, You have created them; Mount Tabor and Mount Hermon joyously praise Your name. You have a mighty arm; strong is Your hand, Your right hand is soaring high. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and loving-kindness and truth go before Your face.
Psalm 89:6-14 (AMP)
Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive the glory and the honor and dominion, for You created all things; by Your will they were [brought into being] and were created.
Revelation 4:11 (AMP)
Sometimes, your faith in God needs to be put to trial to show that you really believe God.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, it is not necessary for us to answer you on this point. If our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up!
Daniel 3:16-18 (AMP)
There’s a wrong message that is preached in our times of a God that is good only when He does or gives things.
If the God we serve is just the God who only does things and gives things, how do we minister to the people who have these things? It’s no use giving people things that they already have.
The God that we serve goes beyond the material things that we seek from Him.
As Christians, we need to know the reason why we worship. A reason that goes beyond the things that we seek God for.
Do you serve God only because He gives you things or does things for you?
What can you tell a person like Bill Gates of a God that does things and give things? He has every material thing that he needs.
We have misrepresented God to our generation to be a God who we go for to receive things or to do things for us.
We need a personal revelation of worship, that it is not based on the needs that we have but for who He is.
Christianity is not only for the poor but for all men.
If only material things or certain accomplishments are all you want, then you don’t need God.
Unbelievers do not fear God but they have money, accolades and are renown in society. If you are after these things alone, then you don’t need God.
God has wired productivity into man. His gifts are irrevocable. The principles of God in the universe are unchanging but they work for believers and nonbelievers alike.
We need to come out of the mentality of seeking God to give us things and do things for us. Nonbelievers are stumbled by this.
It is said that religion is the opium of believers.
God does not give you your destiny. Your choices and actions determine your destiny.
A miracle is an intervention. Why should Christians live on financial miracles? Apply the principles of success in your life and you will succeed.
The very reason we are in need of financial miracles everyday is because we do not have wisdom, knowledge or understanding to employ principles of financial success in your life. This can cause people to become religious.
Once you have understanding, you will know how to pray.
Your commitment to God needs to transcend needs. Worship Him because He is God regardless of your circumstance.
A rich man will worship God because he acknowledges that God is God.
See God for who He is not for what He can do or give.
When God reveals Himself to a human being, there is no struggle to acknowledge who He is.
King Nebuchadnezzar, after being turned into a donkey then back to a human, realized that the worship of God transcends everything.
Relationship with God at a higher level is taking the revelation of God being God by stopping all religiosity by doing things e.g. praying, worship, etc so as to be accepted. You are already accepted.
Relationship with God should transcend needs and wants but have you walking with Him because of who He is and also accepting Him.
It’s not bad to anticipate, expect or ask for things from God. But above that, there is a higher dimension of relationship with God that does not fluctuate whether you get or don’t get what you want from God.
We cast our burdens and cares to God because He cares for us. The more you mature in God, the more the things you desire become accurately aligned to what God desires.
We do not serve God to obtain mercy from Him, or to please Him or to get approval from Him or the forgiveness of sin. We are already accepted and forgiven in Christ.
Service to God begins at your personal altar – the place (not physical) where you meet and fellowship with God.
How we worship God will determine how we serve and minister unto Him and the people He sends us to.
Serving God begins with having the right mind as to the reason we worship. The place of our altar should be based on true worship.
