The Precept & Principles Of Fatherhood – Part 2: Sermon By Apostle Gobanga

Hear, my sons, the instruction of a father, and pay attention in order to gain and to know intelligent discernment, comprehension, and interpretation [of spiritual matters]. For I give you good doctrine [what is to be received]; do not forsake my teaching. When I [Solomon] was a son with my father [David], tender and the only son in the sight of my mother [Bathsheba], He taught me and said to me, Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments and live. Get skillful and godly Wisdom, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation); do not forget and do not turn back from the words of my mouth. Forsake not [Wisdom], and she will keep, defend, and protect you; love her, and she will guard you.

Proverbs 4:1-6 (AMP)

It is vexing to be ignorant of who you are. The knowledge of the principles of life are what will help you handle every configuration of life.

The confusion in the world is due to lack of knowledge of the Divine, His precepts and purpose.

[The magistrates and judges] know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in the darkness [of complacent satisfaction]; all the foundations of the earth [the fundamental principles upon which rests the administration of justice] are shaking.

Psalm 82:5 (AMP)

Where darkness is referenced in the Bible, it points to a wrong foundation. Life can be simple when you apply the principles of life.

You cannot annul the precepts of life. They are above culture or creed. God ordained fatherhood to give future generations identity.

Any institution in existence has a foundation inaugurated by a father figure. A father generates the existence of an institution.

If you want to understand a family or church fellowships, look at the foundation. Look at the founder.

A father is a source, a progenitor.

God has purposed to bring reconciliation to orphaned humanity through Christ to God the Father.

And he shall turn and reconcile the hearts of the [estranged] fathers to the [ungodly] children, and the hearts of the [rebellious] children to [the piety of] their fathers [a reconciliation produced by repentance of the ungodly], lest I come and smite the land with a curse and a ban of utter destruction.

Malachi 4:6 (AMP)

If God is not a father to a man, he cannot be a good father to his family. One cannot be a good husband, father, wife, mother without being fathered by God.

We need to stop defining ourselves through our credentials.

Sin is because of fatherlessness. God is calling men back to their place as fathers the way He intended.

When you understand your position as a man or woman, you will be confident of your position. We are all products of a father. This is also true spiritually.

Spiritual fatherhood is not about convenience. Jesus is called Mighty God and Everlasting Father because He knew the Father. God wants us to be ordained to be fathers so as to turn the hearts of our children to the Father.

The reason why people have unbelief, are wayward, struggle with perceptions and fear is because of lack of fatherhood.

The fact that your father walked out on you does not absolve you from the consequences of not being fathered. Ignorance of this is no excuse.

When you reject the vessel of a father, you reject the principle of fatherhood in him.

A father is not necessarily biological. God will bring people with the nature and expression of a father to father you.

There is a certain knowledge that can only a father can generate. A father teaches you how to submit, respect and the knowledge of authority.

When you see someone’s language full of curses, it points to lack of fatherhood.

Looking at our Kenyan youth, the lack of fatherhood has caused animosity to each other based on tribal lines, stereotypes and ethnicity.

When you don’t know your real father, you don’t know your real identity.

You cannot pass virtues over to your children that have not been passed to you. Children draw out what is in your heart – the spirit behind your words.

Submission is not slavery. A woman submits to a man because he loves her. If you want her to submit to you as a husband, show her love.

Satan is our stepfather. Jehovah is our real father. Satan claimed the right of fatherhood of men when humanity rebelled against God the Father.

Only a true father carries the right gene. Only a man has a creative generating ability. He is the source whereas a woman is the incubator.

A father imparts knowledge as received from God the Father.

Man was created in the image and likeness of God. Image denotes nature, likeness denoted function walking in the expression of that nature.

The human race came from one man. Adam carried nations and the billions of humanity that existed and shall exist.

And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes).

Acts 17:26 (AMP)

God vested in Adam the principle of fruitfulness. He became the source of all people not by choice or democracy. It was by divine decree.

As a man, you need to capture the spirit of fatherhood even before marriage. Kazi si kuzaa, ni kulea (The work is not in the birthing of a child but in raising the child).

A man is responsible for the woman. How you treat a lady is determined by how you were fathered. How you treat a man as a woman is determined by how you were fathered.

God created the man to release the seed to the woman. The woman was created to receive the seed and to bring forth a child, not a seed.

A woman will only give you what you have given to her. The reason why things are wrong in families is because of the man, not the woman.

Ultimately, God is our Father. If you do not understand God, you do not understand anything. When you know God, you are able to relate with all things. Fatherhood teaches you to be faithful stewards.

When God says wait, it is because you have yet to attain to capacity. God wants you to know Him as the source.

When a man is fathered by God, he fathers Godly children. When a man is not fathered by God, he fathers ungodly children.

God is the source. He is the self-sustaining one. He was pregnant with humanity and wanted to have sons who would be made in His image and likeness. It is so that His sons would be able to exercise authority and dominion just like He does.

When I view and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained and established, What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him? Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

Psalm 8:3-8 (AMP)

The universe was created for us. The world was created for us. You can only exercise dominion when you understand a thing’s created purpose.

The initial seed of your existence was vested in Adam. God ordained for you to be born into your generation because of your purpose. But you were created in God before time in eternity. (Reference: Jeremiah 1)

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall become united and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Genesis 2:24 (AMP)

Man is to leave his father and mother. God ordained for a man to be a father. This is so that you may be a father to your wife. The man is not just a husband but shall father his family.

And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

Genesis 2:15-17 (AMP)

Adam was to pass on the instruction he received from God to Eve. This is why God confronted Adam for his irresponsibility. His punishment was harsher than that of Eve and the serpent.

Mentorship is structural. Fatherhood is relational but it encompasses everything. This is because a father speaks into your life.

One without identity cannot serve. Identity is received from a father figure.
