The Tabernacle – Part 2: Sermon By Bishop Gobanga
And the Lord said to Moses, Speak to the Israelites, that they take for Me an offering. From every man who gives it willingly and ungrudgingly with his heart you shall take My offering. This is the offering you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, Blue, purple, and scarlet [stuff] and fine twined linen and goats’ hair, Rams’ skins tanned red, goatskins, dolphin or porpoise skins, acacia wood, Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil and for sweet incense, Onyx stones, and stones for setting in the ephod and in the breastplate. Let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. And you shall make it according to all that I show you, the pattern of the Tabernacle or dwelling and the pattern of all the furniture of it.
Exodus 25:1-9 (AMP)
When God wants to communicate spiritual things, He uses physical visual aids.
The Church is the Body of Christ foreshadowed by the Tabernacle of Moses.
The reason that God wants to indwell man is to bring us to the place of rest from struggle and sin.
When God comes down, He does not come to make you feel good but to have a meeting with Him. He wants to transact with you concerning the counsel of God. There are secrets that He transacts with they that come into His presence.
When God moves in the fullness of His glory, His righteousness expresses His holiness. The righteousness of God is His reaction to holiness in action.
The Tabernacle was there because He was a holy God dealing with a sinful people. The tribe of Levi – descendants one of the sons of Aaron served in the Tabernacle. They kept going through the washing to remain pure for service.
And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race), priests to His God and Father–to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 1:6 (AMP)
We are to serve as priests as we have direct access to God. We no longer live in the old dispensation.
The washing of the word will get rid of doubt in your life.
So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word, That He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things [that she might be holy and faultless].
Ephesians 5:26-27 (AMP)
The presence of God cannot tolerate the frailty of human beings. Them that walk in the spirit access the reality that were foreshadowed by types in the Old Testament.
We have another lineage of priesthood the order of Melchizedek (the pre-figured Christ) and not Aaron, which has no end. The Body of Christ is the Tabernacle of Christ. We are to be conscious of the presence of God. It is not about feeling but having a revelation that God is there whether there is the physical manifestation or not.
But when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man [as man] appeared, He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but because of His own pity and mercy, by [the] cleansing [bath] of the new birth (regeneration) and renewing of the Holy Spirit, Which He poured out [so] richly upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Titus 3:4-6 (AMP)
As He says also in another place, You are a Priest [appointed] forever after the order (with the rank) of Melchizedek. In the days of His flesh [Jesus] offered up definite, special petitions [for that which He not only wanted but needed] and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him Who was [always] able to save Him [out] from death, and He was heard because of His reverence toward God [His godly fear, His piety, in that He shrank from the horrors of separation from the bright presence of the Father]. Although He was a Son, He learned [active, special] obedience through what He suffered And, [His completed experience] making Him perfectly [equipped], He became the Author and Source of eternal salvation to all those who give heed and obey Him, Being designated and recognized and saluted by God as High Priest after the order (with the rank) of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 5:6-10 (AMP)
For he was still in the loins of his forefather [Abraham] when Melchizedek met him [Abraham]. Now if perfection (a perfect fellowship between God and the worshiper) had been attainable by the Levitical priesthood—for under it the people were given the Law—why was it further necessary that there should arise another and different kind of Priest, one after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one appointed after the order and rank of Aaron? For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is of necessity an alteration of the law [concerning the priesthood] as well. For the One of Whom these things are said belonged [not to the priestly line but] to another tribe, no member of which has officiated at the altar. For it is obvious that our Lord sprang from the tribe of Judah, and Moses mentioned nothing about priests in connection with that tribe. And this becomes more plainly evident when another Priest arises Who bears the likeness of Melchizedek, Who has been constituted a Priest, not on the basis of a bodily legal requirement [an externally imposed command concerning His physical ancestry], but on the basis of the power of an endless and indestructible Life. For it is witnessed of Him, You are a Priest forever after the order (with the rank) of Melchizedek. So a previous physical regulation and command is cancelled because of its weakness and ineffectiveness and uselessness.
Hebrews 7:10-18 (AMP)
We are a representation of God. We need to be conscious of this fact (God consciousness) We need to have the reverence of God walking in awe of Him. For us to qualify to be the indwelling place of God – He had to buy us back – redeem us from our fallen state.
The reason the curtain of the temple tore was to remove barriers from interacting with Christ. We have direct access into the presence of God. Jesus came so that we can be ushered into a relationship with God and so that we can experience His presence in our bodies that are the temple of God. There are things we cannot transact with God outside of His presence.
As the Body of Christ, we are referred to as the Tabernacle. We are God’s temple. God dwells in you and I. God desires that we allow Him to dwell in us.
The Church is to serve as a place where we know God and know each other in Christ. We ought to have a revelation of people in Christ – not by only talking about them but by having relationship with God. We must redefine friendship because everyone’s life is more important than ‘friendship’ and other benefits we get and give into the relationship. The destinies of people are more important.
You cannot have a relationship with God if He has not indwelled in you. We need to go beyond gathering information about God but rather, we are to have a relationship which has a reality in Him. We need an encounter with God that introduces us to the reality of His person. This is the kind that Saul (who became Paul) had on his way to Damascus.
The reason why gifted people are messing around is because they do not have a relationship with God. It is the place of relationship with God that our character is shaped. Gifting only affords you an opportunity to stand in the presence of great people.
Christ The Anointed is the One that breaks yokes. Once He is in you, you have impact. Gospel tracks cannot change anyone. It is Christ that does.
The anointing of God is on a person – Christ, the Anointed One. When Christ dwells in you, you become anointed. As we commune with God, we move from sanctification to consecration – to serve the Lord. The anointing transacts with them are consecrated.
We are to be the manifestation of God’s glory. We are His tabernacle. God wants us to move from experiences of the Mount of transfiguration where the 3 disciples wanted to build tabernacles but to be the tabernacles of Christ in us the hope of Glory.
God wants us to be caught up in His presence such that manifestations of His glory in our lives are evidenced by character change.
Despite ones portion in life, people will know that you have been with the person of Christ.
Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools [common men with no educational advantages], they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:13 (AMP)
The progenitor of the Tabernacle was God. It was a divine structure.
Moses was given the pattern at the mountain which was a replica of that which God has in the Spirit. It was a replica of what was going to be in the future. Moses knew in part. This was mystery revealed in part. Moses and Abraham knew of Jesus before He was even born.
God wants us to go beyond experience and are ushered into the reality of who He is.
