Get It At Whatever Cost: Sermon By Pastor Peter Davis Kamau
I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise nor riches to men of intelligence and understanding nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 (AMP)
Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened. Or what man is there of you, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will hand him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent? If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him! So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them, for this is (sums up) the Law and the Prophets. Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it. But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it.
Matthew 7:7-14 (AMP)
Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, a son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have pity and mercy on me [now]! And many severely censured and reproved him, telling him to keep still, but he kept on shouting out all the more, You Son of David, have pity and mercy on me [now]! And Jesus stopped and said, Call him. And they called the blind man, telling him, Take courage! Get up! He is calling you. And throwing off his outer garment, he leaped up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, What do you want Me to do for you? And the blind man said to Him, Master, let me receive my sight. And Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has healed you. And at once he received his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road.
Mark 10:46-52 (AMP)
Time and chance happens to us all. If time and chance has not happened to you, ask yourself where you have been when it happens.
A – Ask
S – Seek
K – Knock
We seek after things that are hidden. It needs us to use our energy to find what we seek.
You knock when you want to enter in.
A lot of us are living a life of much. God wants us to live a life of much more.
What you do unto others, shall be done unto you.
Find the narrow gate at whatever cost. The heavenly journey is not an easy road. Salvation is not about being massaged. It is about receiving the truth.
We are not saved just to have fun. We are called by Jesus because He has a purpose and destiny for us.
Avoid side shows in salvation. To get to heaven, do it Jesus’ way. It cost Him His life. It’s not easy but it’s doable.
Avoid self-damaging issues. Stop being bothered about how you look. Be yourself. Accept who you are. There’s only one you.
Stop damaging your life with your mouth. Your mouth is to be used to worship God. Speak life, not death, to yourself and to others.
Gossip is a token that when you give that comes back with a double portion.
There are two roads – one that leads to Heaven and another that leads to destruction.
Going to heaven needs a heavenly posture and attitude. You must deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also]. For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here] for My sake shall find it [life everlasting]. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life [his blessed life in the kingdom of God]? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his [blessed] life [in the kingdom of God]?
Matthew 16:24-26 (AMP)
God has began a good work in you since you got saved. Allow Him to complete it. Avoid the road that is being used by everyone.
1. Know the reason for your salvation.
We have been called so that we can establish the Kingdom of God on earth.
2. You must know your value.
When you know who you are, you refuse to be defined by the perceptions of people.
Know your true value. Define yourself rightly and people will respect you for who you are.
You were bought at a price. It cost Jesus His life.
3. You have the capacity and ability to get to heaven.
It is not by your own strength. If you can deal with yourself/flesh you will get there
Utilize your opportunities. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength i.e. all Godly things.
We can do all things through Christ because we have the backing of heaven.
As believers, we have the backing of the Kingdom of heaven. We can command issues and chaos in our lives to cease.
Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Matthew 18:18 (NKJV)
We have the capacity to get to heaven because we have the backing of heaven. You’re too good for hell.
If you live right, you have access to the arsenal of heaven.
The only reason we have fake preachers is because we have fake believers. Be sober.
4. We must abide by the rules of the heavenly game.
There is a pattern of heaven. There are rules that we must abide by to avoid disqualification.
Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].
Matthew 7:21-23 (AMP)
The energy you expend to live a righteous life is much less than that which you expend to live a life of sin.
Avoid simple solutions and approaches to issues. Learn to confront issues rather than running from them. Remember, you cannot run from yourself.
There’s nothing better in this world than salvation. If you live rightly, people will not miss your presence. They will miss your absence.
Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
Mark 10:46-52 (NKJV)
Accept who you are and where you are. Bartimaeus was real. It is a waste to fake it. Be real. Where you are is not permanent.
When you know who you are, your circumstances will not define you.
Reverse the things that have plagued your life or your family. What is being spoken as a reality does not have to be your reality.
Just because it is said that there are no jobs in Kenya, it doesn’t mean that you can’t get a job.
You may not have it all, but if you use what God has put in your disposal, you can go far. You can get what you need.
The chance that God will give you will open up the opportunity to use what you have. Leverage what you have to get what you need.
Use your resources to build up another. Mentorship is how we build the Kingdom.
Your detractors have no business in your miracle.
If you have to get something, you have to silence your detractors. You have to avoid crowd mentality and behaviour.
When you go to God, be specific. Sometimes, we lack because we have not asked.
Are you willing to follow Jesus with what He has blessed you with?
The crowd is not part of the equation. Follow Jesus. It will cost you everything, but He will get you there.
