The Prophetic Induction Of Man Created In His Element Of Purpose – Part 5: Sermon By Bishop Gobanga
Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, Thus says the Lord God: You are the full measure and pattern of exactness [giving the finishing touch to all that constitutes completeness], full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the carnelian, topaz, jasper, chrysolite, beryl, onyx, sapphire, carbuncle, and emerald; and your settings and your sockets and engravings were wrought in gold. On the day that you were created they were prepared. You were the anointed cherub that covers with overshadowing [wings], and I set you so. You were upon the holy mountain of God; you walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire [like the paved work of gleaming sapphire stone upon which the God of Israel walked on Mount Sinai]. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created until iniquity and guilt were found in you.
Through the abundance of your commerce you were filled with lawlessness and violence, and you sinned; therefore I cast you out as a profane thing from the mountain of God and the guardian cherub drove you out from the midst of the stones of fire. Your heart was proud and lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I lay you before kings, that they might gaze at you. You have profaned your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities and the enormity of your guilt, by the unrighteousness of your trade. Therefore I have brought forth a fire from your midst; it has consumed you, and I have reduced you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all who looked at you. All who know you among the people are astonished and appalled at you; you have come to a horrible end and shall never return to being.
Ezekiel 28:11-19 (AMP)
How have you fallen from heaven, O light-bringer and daystar, son of the morning! How you have been cut down to the ground, you who weakened and laid low the nations [O blasphemous, satanic king of Babylon!] And you said in your heart, I will ascend to heaven; I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit upon the mount of assembly in the uttermost north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High. Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol (Hades), to the innermost recesses of the pit (the region of the dead).
Those who see you will gaze at you and consider you, saying, Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms? – Who made the world like a wilderness and overthrew its cities, who would not permit his prisoners to return home? All the kings of the nations, all of them lie sleeping in glorious array, each one in his own sepulcher. But you are cast away from your tomb like a loathed growth or premature birth or an abominable branch [of the family] and like the raiment of the slain; and you are clothed with the slain, those thrust through with the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit [into which carcasses are thrown], like a dead body trodden underfoot. You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land and have slain your people. May the descendants of evildoers nevermore be named!
Isaiah 14:12-20 (AMP)
Lucifer was the cherubim positioned on the holy mountain of God, the presence of God, His divine aura. He was in a perfect environment since the first earth was perfect.
Then in the Spirit He conveyed me away to a vast and lofty mountain and exhibited to me the holy (hallowed, consecrated) city of Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God.
Revelation 21:10 (AMP)
He walked in the midst of the stones of fire according to Ezekiel 28:13. They were memorial stones. They are similar to the ones on the breastplate of the priest. The stones on the breastplate were a remembrance of the tribes of Israel.
In the same way, Lucifer was to represent the total number of angels represented by him in God’s presence.
The angels are referred to as stones of fire because the stones represent the characteristics of the angels. They are ministering spirits that radiate white, bright fire. They do so because they stand before the presence of God.
Christ is a memorial to the Father. He did all that God the Father wanted.
We as humans are also meant to be a memorial to God. A memorial of what God wants for you. That is why we are to consult God before we do anything.
Lucifer was to draw wisdom and knowledge from Christ. He was second to Christ in rank. Not even man who was created in God’s image could compare to the status Lucifer had.
The question then begs, ‘Why would Lucifer jeopardize this status?’
He jeopardized his position because he was not content. He wanted to be the ruler of the whole universe. It was not enough to be a chaperon of the throne of God. He wanted to be on the throne.
Love motivates God to give us the option to reject His love. There is no true free will if there is no option to choose or reject God. God wants us to follow Him where only out of our free will not under obligation. He wants us to have a choice.
While God gives us the chance to choose or leave Him, the devil does not give us the choice. Once we are in his kingdom, he does not let go.
God is not the author of the pain that we go through.
God forgave us in Christ before we sinned. In the same way we ought set out in our hearts to forgive others before they wrong us.
God took responsibility before man sinned. He did not blame man for sin. He looked at the counsel of His will and took responsibility for our lives. He chose to give His Son to deal with sin.
Satan was created blameless but he chose what he thought to be freedom from God. Instead he ended up with captivity and bondage.
The free will that we have has a cost. Angels have made their decision. We are to make ours too.
Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?
Romans 6:16 (NKJV)
In rejecting God, Lucifer embraced a lie and thence became the father of lies. He had a high esteem of his beauty and pride build up in him and he became degenerate and this destroyed his conscience and character.
Rebellion is not something that happens overnight. It comes from what we brood over and it overflows from wickedness in our hearts. Iniquity is gross wickedness. It is overflowing. It is a point of no return in regards to evil.
What Lucifer pondered on overtook him and gathered a momentum he could not control.
Lucifer knew the implications of what he was about to do. It would then be wrong to blame God for the things that happened to Lucifer. God takes us through trials and alerts us of the consequences of the choices that we make.
Lucifer was trading lies in the angelic realm as shown in the Bible. He scandalized the reputation of God among the other angels. If you have a wrong perception it will affect your attitude, which will determine your character and affections.
The Coup
Lucifer knew he could not overthrow God by force. Therefore, he came up with the strategy of deception. It was a weapon for him to attempt to beat God at His own game.
He had a vision and could not do it alone so he set out to lead a coup. He knew the principle of God where a vision is given to one man for a multitude, and twisted it for his own cause.
He had a false perception of God and banked on the character and integrity of God to save him from instant obliteration. He was convinced God would not obliterate what God has created. He thought God condemning him would be inconsistent with the character of God and God would therefore abdicate the throne to him.
He also knew that God would not replace what He has made including him therefore the beauty he had would not be replaced.
The genesis of iniquity and sin is deception. That is why there is turmoil in the earth. For example, deception that we are better than others.
The enemy has never been content with what he has and he deludes the rest of the human race to be discontent as well. Comparing yourself with others and not appreciating what you have is a sign of discontentment. Lucifer compared himself to God.
Once deception has taken root, anything can be done. Deception can destroy homes, relationships and even nations.
Lucifer did not see himself as an anointed cherubim but as God and discontentment brooded in his heart.
Never see yourself as better than the authority that God had placed in your life.
Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
1 Timothy 6:6 (NKJV)
When satan comes to steal, kill and destroy, he uses deception.
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
John 10:10 (NKJV)
God shut the earth in darkness to stop the multiplication of evil. God judged the whole earth that existed.
