Prevailing Prayer | INFEMI Sermon By Rev. Daniel Kamau

Prevailing Prayer: Sermon By Rev. Daniel Kamau

Prayer is one of the tools that God will use to cause purpose to be birthed on the face of the earth.

Why prevailing? It is a qualification from one-off prayers.

Prevailing – Existing now and needing attention. It is present-continuous.

Prayer is conversation with God.

Prevailing prayer is a prayer that is continuous.

All these I will bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.

Isaiah 56:7 (AMP)

He said to them, The Scripture says, My house shall be called a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers.

Matthew 21:13 (AMP)

Prayer avails power. If you are prayerless, you are powerless.

Prayer is not telling what God to do. It is aligning to God’s will for our lives. It is praying ourselves into God’s Heart and Mind for our lives.

Prayer is like when Mary heard and submitted to God that it may be as unto her according to God’s will. Mary prayed and partnered with God. She adjusted herself i.e conformity.

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God,even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Romans 12:1-2 (AMP)

The pristine environment for man was Eden. In the presence of God, there is no structure. You let go and release yourself to Him.

God will not defraud you. You can trust Him.

Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams].

Ephesians 3:20 (AMP)

Some transactions, only God can handle when He makes known to you the Father-Heart of God.

The world with all its good intentions will not make it without God.

The quest for man to look for other habitable environments is an exercise in futility.

God only listens and responds to prayer that is firmly secured in His heart and mind.

What leads to strife (discord and feuds) and how do conflicts (quarrels and fightings) originate among you? Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members? You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. [To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned.] You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask. [Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.

James 4:1-3 (AMP)

Prayer based upon God’s Word rises above our emotions and reaches the Author of the Word.

Spending time with God in prayer causes one to attain a quiet spirit. You become filled with His peace.

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

Isaiah 26:3 (AMP)

Who were chosen and foreknown by God the Father and consecrated (sanctified, made holy) by the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and to be sprinkled with [His] blood: May grace (spiritual blessing) and peace be given you in increasing abundance [that spiritual peace to be realized in and through Christ, freedom from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts].

1 Peter 1:2 (AMP)

The power of prevailing prayer:

Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

James 5:16 (AMP)

Take stock of your life. What happened the minute this Rhema Word was spoken? How many transitions have you successfully gone through? Are you still in turmoil or have you been at a place of peace as a result of spending time with God?

Ask God for wisdom for where you lack.

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.

James 1:5 (AMP)

You will never apply wisdom appropriately from a place of turmoil. You need to be at peace to hear and discern well.

1. Prevailing Prayer As A Response To Hunger & Thirst.

Jesus quenched the thirst of the Samaritan Woman of being known. [John 4]

The problem with the Body of Christ is that we are trying to evangelise without first having an encounter with the Living God.

All we need, Beloved, are encounters with God.

2. Prevailing Prayer As A Response To Humanity’s Quest For Wisdom & Enlightenment.

The Apostle Paul is in Athens and he speaks to the men there.

So Paul, standing in the center of the Areopagus [Mars Hill meeting place], said: Men of Athens, I perceive in every way [on every hand and with every turn I make] that you are most religious or very reverent to demons. For as I passed along and carefully observed your objects of worship, I came also upon an altar with this inscription, To the unknown god. Now what you are already worshiping as unknown, this I set forth to you. The God Who produced and formed the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade shrines. Neither is He served by human hands, as though He lacked anything, for it is He Himself Who gives life and breath and all things to all [people].

And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes),so that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your [own] poets have said, For we are also His offspring.

Acts 17:23 (AMP)

God is the Father of Lights and we can trust Him.

And this is why I am suffering as I do. Still I am not ashamed, for I know (perceive, have knowledge of, and am acquainted with) Him Whom I have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on), and I am [positively] persuaded that He is able to guard and keep that which has been entrusted to me and which I have committed [to Him] until that day.

2 Timothy 1:12 (AMP)

King Nebuchadnezzar had an enigma. Daniel was in the court of the King. They were all going to be killed and Daniel went to his brothers so that they may pray together and seek for the interpretation of the dream from God.

God can take you into the realms of the Spirit and show you the dream or vision of another man.

Then Daniel went to his house and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, so that they would desire and request mercy of the God of heaven concerning this secret, that Daniel and his companions should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night, and Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

Daniel 2:17-19 (AMP)

If family is the fabric of society, we have to stitch it back. But we cannot do it without the Divine blueprint. It will take prevailing prayer.

3. Prevailing Prayer Made In Oneness.

Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven. Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven. For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I Am in the midst of them.

Matthew 18:18-20 (AMP)

Christ is looking for you and me to be the conduit of God’s heart and mind.

United prayer is a mighty weapon that the Body of Christ is to employ.

If Jesus Christ asked Peter, John and James to pray for Him, how much more us?

God is calling us in our homes and schools and workplaces to erect altars.

4. Prevailing Prayer To Overcome Satanic Onslaughts.

It is only they that have seed on the ground can pray for rain.

The devil sought to sift Peter like wheat.

Simon, Simon (Peter), listen! Satan has asked excessively that [all of] you be given up to him [out of the power and keeping of God], that he might sift [all of] you like grain, but I have prayed especially for you [Peter], that your [own] faith may not fail; and when you yourself have turned again, strengthen and establish your brethren.

Luke 22:31-32 (AMP)

The devil comes for the Word. He wants to stop everything that God has spoken to you. He wants to harden your heart.

Prayer is what waters the Word of God in your life. It is not vain repetitions. It is what causes it to grow.

Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).

Ephesians 6:18 (AMP)

You tire to pray if purpose is out of the picture. When purpose is alive for you, you will lay down everything in your life that needs laying down for it.

Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always). Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]. Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (AMP)

God wants us to revisit the three spheres that He has speaking to us about for the last 2 years: homes, schools and work.

In light of purpose, what is the most appropriate prayer to make for you?

Let us pray, and pray, and pray. Let us pray.
