Living In The Divine Element Of The Law – Part 2: Sermon By Apostle Gobanga

[No] you yourselves are our letter of recommendation (our credentials), written in your hearts, to be known (perceived, recognized) and read by everybody. You show and make obvious that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, not written with ink but with [the] Spirit of [the] living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. Such is the reliance and confidence that we have through Christ toward and with reference to God.

Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God. [It is He] Who has qualified us [making us to be fit and worthy and sufficient] as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not [ministers] of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit; for the code [of the Law] kills, but the [Holy] Spirit makes alive.

2 Corinthians 3:2-6 (AMPC)

Christ came in the physical form but in His Body the Son of God was resident. He was the true representation of God. Many could not perceive Him because He looked like them yet nature of Christ was in Jesus.

After the ascension of Christ, His Spirit was released to us. The impartation of the nature of Christ and the element of sonship was released and birthed in the apostles during Pentecost. The Word of God was the expression and purpose of Jesus Christ. They received the impartation of the nature of God.

It is one thing to know the Bible and yet another thing to know Christ the person.

The spirit that crucified Christ is still present in the Church. The same one that inspired the Pharisees to crucify Christ because they knew the letter of the law but not the person of Christ. The clergy in the Church are more concerned about control so as to be relevant just like the Pharisees were at the time of Jesus.

The Church in Kenya is resisted and rejected, even by the government, because of many of their leaders. There are scandals and chaos. But this chaos is necessary to align the Church so that the words God spoke over Kenya may come to pass. The old priesthood will pass so that the true sons of God may arise.

It is one thing to know the Scripture and another to know the person the scriptures talks about. The Spirit of God is the one who turns scripture to Rhema. That is why the apostles were told to tarry in Jerusalem until the Spirit of God would come.

We cannot equate Christ to the Bible. According to John 1, Christ is the word of God. Word is the nature and expression of the person of Jesus. The word is the voice of God. We do not need more reading of the Bible but more hearing of the voice of God. We need that which God has spoken to us. When God speaks to us we do not forget.

When we read the Bible without the Spirit of God, we are trying to decode what is coded and we become legalistic and we possess a form of godliness that denies the power to transform.

There is a divine element of the law that we are supposed to live in. This is the Word of God, which proceeds from the mouth of God. We need to understand time and season as pertains to what God is speaking. Until we can see the unitary principle at work in the word of God and in what God has spoken to us, what we read will be null and void.

We are to know the Shepherd who is Christ the Living Word not just the words of the Shepherd. The Bible is important because it bears witness to Christ.

Manna represents the letter of the law while the bread of life is the one which gives life beyond the grave. We are to be more concerned about the person who lives within rather than how much Scripture we know.

In all of Christendom, we have exalted preachers of the word. If all we know is what our favourite pastor has taught us and not Christ, then we are in trouble. We would not, for example, be able to discern doctrinal error if it were to occur. Instead, we are to know Christ the person who is the same yesterday, today and forever for in Him we live, we move and have our being.

The Spirit of the word enables us to understand the heart and mind of God. The Word of God is spiritual and spiritual people can handle the things of the spirit. The carnal man cannot understand the things of the Spirit.

We face hard times when we love God because people are fighting the person of Christ in you. Paul was the best of the religious folk and a Jew of Jews but when he met Christ through a vision and had a revelation of Christ he was blinded to all he knew and his life changed. He was no longer Saul but Paul. He was taught of Christ and not man. He was taught mysteries by the Spirit of God.

The physical man of Jesus was a form. The real spiritual person was in the form. The form represented Immanuel God with us. The real Christ was hidden within His Body. Christ is spiritual and is able to pervade beyond the veil of visibility. When He resides in you, everything makes sense. His Spirit begins to lead you deep into the Scriptures. We are to demonstrate the Spirit and power of God on earth not the letter and accuracy of speech because knowledge puffs up.

Accuracy does not mean truth. Diviners are accurate and factual but they are from the devil. We are to be careful of who we heed to. Some people who are said to be ‘prophetic’ work using the spirit of divination. Not all ‘prayers’ are prayers.

Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action).

2 Timothy 3:16 (AMPC)

Scriptures are inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are a witness of Jesus Christ but can never make you like Christ. It is the Holy Spirit who can lead you in all truth. The One who makes us righteous is Christ.

What is a type is natural, the prototype is spiritual. Moses was a mediator of natural things. The Old Testament (law) could not work. If what was natural was enough, we would not need the New Covenant. The work of the New Covenant was eternal. Blood was shed once and for all and the priesthood is without end.

You search and investigate and pore over the Scriptures diligently, because you suppose and trust that you have eternal life through them. And these [very Scriptures] testify about Me!

John 5:39 (AMPC)

This Scripture emphasizes the futility of man looking for salvation in Scriptures yet it is the person of Christ who saves us.

The Bible says he that receives the Son has life not he that receives the testimony of Christ (the Bible). Scriptures amplify the revelation you have in Christ. It is not the foundation of your salvation. You need to hear the voice of Christ speaking to you illuminating the Scriptures.

All these does not dispel the importance of the Bible but what is more important is the Spirit of the person of Christ. The Bible will not have any value to you without the Spirit.

What does He mean by a little while? We do not know or understand what He is talking about. Jesus knew that they wanted to ask Him, so He said to them, Are you wondering and inquiring among yourselves what I meant when I said, In a little while you will no longer see Me, and again after a short while you will see Me?

John 16:18-19 (AMPC)

If Jesus Christ never left, the Holy Spirit would not be sent to us. The disciples would never grow deeper in Him if He didn’t go. When He went, the Spirit of Christ was released and was able to impact people who had not seen the person of Jesus but by believing in Him they tapped into the nature of Christ.

Listen to the Spirit of Christ because He testifies of Christ and makes Him known to us. John 16 shows the importance of the Spirit of God who speaks of the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit will convict the world not because of failing to believe in the law but for not believing in Christ. We should not fall into the trap of exalting Scripture beyond God or His voice. We need to rise above the natural and embrace the spiritual. You shall live from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

We were crucified with Him. He was not crucified on our behalf. Jesus did not come as a substitute. His death took care of the sins that happened before, during and after His coming. You need Christ to give you the consciousness of new life to walk out of the old man. The historical cross cannot save us from the old man. We are to appropriate the work of Christ in order to receive new life. The old man was mutilated on the Cross making you a partaker of the new life.

Old nature crucifies Christ but the new man the spirit man exalts Christ. When we function in the old nature we will fight God.

[That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God’s Law; indeed it cannot.

Romans 8:7 (AMPC)
