Mystery Of The Seed: Sermon By Minister Innocent Kinara
And He said, The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed upon the ground, And then continues sleeping and rising night and day while the seed sprouts and grows and increases—he knows not how. The earth produces [acting] by itself—first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe and permits, immediately he sends forth [the reapers] and puts in the sickle, because the harvest stands ready. And He said, With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use to illustrate and explain it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all seeds upon the earth; Yet after it is sown, it grows up and becomes the greatest of all garden herbs and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air are able to make nests and dwell in its shade.
Mark 4:26-32 (AMPC)
Now [in Haran] the Lord said to Abram, Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father’s house, to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].
Genesis 12:1-2 (AMPC)
[Even] now I rejoice in the midst of my sufferings on your behalf. And in my own person I am making up whatever is still lacking and remains to be completed [on our part] of Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of His body, which is the church. In it I became a minister in accordance with the divine stewardship which was entrusted to me for you [as its object and for your benefit], to make the Word of God fully known [among you]— The mystery of which was hidden for ages and generations [from angels and men], but is now revealed to His holy people (the saints).
Colossians 1:24-26 (AMPC)
We can learn a lot from God through creation. Christ used earthly examples to teach people through parables.
For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them. For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification].
Romans 1:19-20 (AMPC)
In a seed is a tree even though the seed seems insignificant. The seed is more than meets the eye. A seed is a tree in hiding. The thing hidden in the seed is what it will become. For example, an acorn becomes an oak tree. The oak tree is hidden within the seed.
Inside of itself, a seed is vested with everything it needs to become a tree. It only needs to have the right conditions to grow.
And God said, Let the earth put forth [tender] vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees yielding fruit whose seed is in itself, each according to its kind, upon the earth. And it was so.
Genesis 1:11 (AMPC)
Technology is a set of principles once applied gives you repetitive results. The seed principle is technology that God uses to grow things.
Christ was also a type of seed that died, was raised as a firstborn and through Him, many could become sons of God.
The problem starts when you cannot perceive what God is doing in your life. In Mark 4, the man did not see the seed but the seed was growing.
When you understand the heart and mind of God you will be at peace with how God works through the process by seeing the big picture God has for you.
Most of our frustration comes from lacking understanding of who God is and how He works. This makes grasping His prophetic words difficult. A farmer who does not know how a seed works will be frustrated with it. Our lack of peace shows where we are lacking in understanding.
In the natural, we know about the process a seed goes through to mature into a tree. We are quick to understand how natural seeds work but we do not see it in the spirit. There is a place in our minds and hearts that needs to grasp our lives and circumstances as seeds that God will grow into our purpose.
Thoughts are like seeds and though they may seem insignificant they are powerful. Our thoughts are a sign of how we see things.
In creation, we see a lot of the nature of God and how He works. All truth is parallel.
The mystery of the seed is that out of one man’s faith, God created a nation of believers. God was looking for children of faith, sons (male and female) of faith not biological sons. Abraham perceived that the nation was not physical. He understood that God was looking for him to be the father of faith.
[Prompted] by faith he dwelt as a temporary resident in the land which was designated in the promise [of God, though he was like a stranger] in a strange country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs with him of the same promise. For he was [waiting expectantly and confidently] looking forward to the city which has fixed and firm foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God.
Hebrews 11:9-10 (AMPC)
Abraham was content to die only seeing Isaac even when God said he was the father of many nations. He was content to hand over this promise to the next generation. If you can see the big picture God has in His heart and mind, then you can see everything. Are we people who will be content to see the big picture?
The heart and mind of God is the big picture we need to pursue. This is the essence behind the words He speaks. It is easy to give up on God when we do not know Him. If we knew Him and how He works the question of giving up on God would never arise.
Believers need an experiential relationship with God, deeper than what they hear about Him. They need to know God for themselves.
The same way it is definite that when we plant a bean seed we are sure it will grow, the seed of the word of God will grow.
So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11 (AMPC)
In the real sense, faith is not risky because you trust and are assured of the character of God. It needs to be a reality inside of you. Faith is being fully persuaded of who God is, without any shadow of doubt.
There is a difference between what we know and what we believe. You need what you know about God to be a reality in your life.
God has the capacity to do it now. There is no question on His ability. The real question is why is He not doing it now?
God is more interested in our character than in His show of might in our lives or in giving you a gift or promotion. Promotion necessitates that God builds a capacity in you that can handle the gift and the blessing. It is not a game that God plays with His people when He causes delay. He is looking for character.
Seeds do not grow immediately it needs an environment. The principle of seed and harvest necessitates that we go through time and process to become who God says we are and attain to maturity.
Abraham understood that God could give him another Isaac. He was aware that Isaac could not give him God. Our promises cannot give us God, but God can give us all we need.
When God takes us through experiences, He puts flesh to what we know. What we know moves from head knowledge to become a reality and experiential in our lives. Learning about God is not in the grand sermons, but in the experiences we have with God.
No matter where we are, there’s testimony. God gives us testimony in the hard and He sustains that testimony with His hand. God desires to have each and every one of us to have a legacy of faith by experientially taking Him at His word.
Many times God will expose what is in your heart, your perception and posture when you go through adversity.
If God has spoken something over your life and it is yet to be fulfilled, consider that you are the reason behind it. Check your heart. Is your mind right? Are you in the right place?
Understanding what God is doing in your life is a factor of your heart not your head. This will cause you to have rest and no circumstance will shake you. Rest is what is settled in you heart as a reality, not when the circumstances are right in your life. You need to see and perceive what God is doing in your life.
Be cautious to nurture an environment of faith, prayer, the Word of God and fellowship with brethren to grow the seed in you.
Take a look back and see the process you have been through. You will definitely see God’s faithfulness.
It will be so sad if all we want from God is a good career, a spouse and affluence. These are natural things we can acquire with our might. When you strip off all that, what remains is relationship with God. God is not interested in giving you stuff, the real miracle is relationship with Him.
If we look at ourselves keenly, we will see that we too are seeds. What tree is God looking to grow is a question we should ask ourselves.
When you get to the point where you see God for who He is, many things will be settled in your life.
