Transformation & Renewal – 2016 February Fast (Day 8): Devotion By Deaconess Jackie Wandia
Transformation comes by the renewal of our minds.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.Romans 12:2
Our greatest battles take place in our minds. Our attitudes and perceptions are a result of what we feed our minds.
It’s quite interesting how powerful the mind is. How an entertained thought process can greatly affect your relationship with others, God and your view on life.
Transformation is just not externally. The nonconformity to the world does not primarily mean the external avoidance of worldly behaviour. That’s included. But you can avoid all kinds of worldly behaviour and not be transformed. It is not switching from the to-do list of the flesh to the to-do list of the law. It is instead the triumphant power and transformation of the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ.
The Spirit renews the mind and we are dependent on Him. Our efforts follow His enabling. He must work from outside in and from the inside out. From the outside in by exposing our minds to the truth of Christ and from the inside out by breaking the hard heart that blinds and corrupts the mind.
God wants us to have the supernatural ability to discern everything that happens to us from His vantage point and His perspective, and not get bogged down and buried by our own negative thoughts or by what we can “see” going on.
No Mind Change – No Life Change. Remember whatever directs your mind will ultimately direct your life.
Pray for the renewal of our minds. Pray that God deals every attitude/perception that’s contrary to His word. Be it about God, yourself, your partner and church/family members. Let us partner with the Holy Spirit for this process to take place.
You know yourself and are aware of the mindsets that you are struggling with so let us have this submitted to God in prayer.
