Living In The Divine Element Of The Law: Part 6 | INFEMI Sermon Series By Apostle Gobanga

Living In The Divine Element Of The Law – Part 6: Sermon By Apostle Gobanga

What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said,“You shall not covet.” But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead. I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me. For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.”

 Romans 7:7-20 (ESV)

The Bible bears witness of that which is true. The wages of sin is death. Death is the penalty of sin and not Hell. From Scripture, we learn that death is separation from God. When you are living contrary to God, you are away from Him, shut off from Him, then you are dead. The reward of right-living is not Heaven, but relationship with God. Death is separation from God and not burning in hell.

Separation takes place within our own consciousness. You die by shutting God off from your consciousness and mind.

Your hope for glory does not consist going to heaven. Your emphasis should be that you are with Christ.

How can we be separated from an omnipresent God?

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.

Isaiah 59:2 (ESV)

The hope of glory isn’t about going to heaven. Heaven isn’t a geographical placement.

God wants us to be with Him. Where He is, there is heaven. God defines heaven, not His placement. You can focus on Heaven so much and forget about God and being with Him. Without God there is nothing. Heaven is defined by the Person who sits on the throne in Heaven. Freedom comes from capturing truth that delivers one from deception.

Paul alludes that the law is spiritual but he was carnal. Being carnal refers to being loaded with the sinful nature; sold to sin.

Being natural means it is something that is akin to nature; the sum total of attributes that makes something distinct.

Natural man: In accordance with the usual order of mankind in the current generation.

There is no such thing as a natural man who is living today because we know that there is no one alive today who is in possession of the original traits of a human being as intended by God.

Natural man has aggregation of qualities of a perfect human being. Natural man is in harmony and follows and the order of mankind in this present age.

The primary meaning of spirit man is the spiritual element of substance of being.

The secondary meaning refers to that which pertains to the intellectual capability that is the guidance of the Holy Spirit, as well as that is the higher endowment of men by the Holy Spirit or modulated by the Holy Spirit.

When you refer to the law as being spiritual, you are talking about a certain level that your mind had been endowed by the Holy Spirit to be able to comprehend the law, the law being spiritual.

It takes an intellect that is endowed by the Holy Spirit to be able to understand the law. Being spiritual has nothing to do with a person.

The law being spiritual is understood according to the 2nd definition. It has an appeal to the higher endowments of men; a representation of the divine mind and spirit. A person that is fallen and imperfect can’t observe the spiritual law and know God’s perfect will and therefore, cannot respond to the revelation of God’s truth.

Man on his own cannot fully keep the requirements of God’s spiritual law. God in bringing salvation had to address the soul of man to give him a new mind, heart and will so as to receive and retain the truth they have received from God, to love this truth and to keep and execute it through their will.

A carnal person is not able to appreciate or to apply the law of God in their life. Man in his fallen state is unable to discern the righteousness of God. The law itself is supposed to be a representation of the perfection of the Creator God. There is nothing wrong with the Law of God.

When Paul in Romans refers to himself as being sinful, he speaks of his old mind which is gratified by that which is temporary.

When you have a fallen nature and hear the law being declared, you may feel judged and condemned. The sinful nature has warped and twisted the intellect of man to incapacitate him from discerning that which is spiritual and that which is not. They are thus unable to discern and appreciate the dealings of God in their lives, they take off when they come into contact with the Light of God’s Word.

Paul acknowledges that he had a carnal mind; and therefore had a nature that had caused him to be closed in by bondage. This nature is gratified by the momentary with a train of thought that is sinful. This makes the law become non-effectual in a person’s life. Man is under sin but this does not describe actions but rather a nature. The law is concerned about the nature that is in the hearts of men.

The perfect man at creation (Adam) had a full range of mental and moral faculties. He was able to think and do things like God. He had a nature that was receptive of the perfect (imparted, instructive, prophetic, full of counsel) knowledge of God. As long as Adam allowed himself to be modulated by the Holy Spirit, all was well with him.

Trusting in his own knowledge caused Adam to fall; losing and falling short of the mind, heart and will of God, incapable of understanding, loving and executing God’s truth.

Man found himself condemned by the very law that was to be seen as spiritual and Holy. Sadly, this is the same case with Christians. They cannot see the spiritual aspect of the law of God because the aspect of the flesh is still alive in them. This is why sanctification is a lifetime process that a believer goes through. The more sanctified you are, the more consecrated you are. The Holy Spirit comes to accomplish the finished work of Christ on the Cross in your life because you cannot do it on your own.

Religious people major on performance. They strive to do well and serve to be seen; but works alone cannot suffice.

The knowledge that comes from God has a preservative mechanism. Man flows in the dimension of prosperity when he relies absolutely on God. When man fell in sin He lost the mind of God, He fell short of the heart and will of God.

A lot of people live a carnal life. They have a nature embellished by their earthly nature and situations. They are limited. They define their lives according to their circumstances. A spiritual person remains constant even during adversity because they have the mind of Christ fixed on things above and not on things below.

God wants you to cease from perceiving matters from a depraved standpoint and see them from God’s perspective.

Obedience to commandments is beyond obeying the Ten Commandments and doing works.

Carnal people are performers and that doesn’t suffice. There is nothing you can add and subtract to the finished work of Christ.

After the fall, man lost his perfection as an organism. He lost his mental balance. Depravity in society is seen where people claim that they are being trapped in a man’s or woman’s body. You cannot reason with a person who has a carnal mind.

A carnal person has a nature that is embellished according to their circumstances and not according to the truth of God’s word. The carnal person will fluctuate with circumstances.

We as believers need to surrender our will to be in concert with the will of God. God wants us to see things from His perspective and not from our own.

Sin puts one in a place where one digresses from God’s Word and focus on circumstances and  situations. God wants us to appreciate His Word to bring us to a place of consecration and separation for Divine service.

The Holy Spirit enables us be set apart for divine service. You can’t be consecrated unless you are sanctified. God wants us to accept His will even when it doesn’t make sense or is illogical. He desires that we surrender to His will.

When you are carnally minded you will be led to trouble, distress and misery. Being carnally minded separates you from God and exposes you to fate. It is dangerous to qualify people as perfect when you have an imperfect nature.

We need to see each other in Christ. Divine things need to be seen from God’s perspective.

For those who are dating, you are going out with a raw material. Perceive them beyond the natural. God wants you to have a mind that is in harmony with His mind working according to the counsel of His will.

In the context of divine marriages, God desires that you work with a raw material. When you are walking in the divine, you will let go of Babylonian systems.

God wants us to have a mind that works after the counsel of His will and His Word. The decisions we make should follow after the counsel of His will.

There are a certain deceptions that needs to be let go of in light of divine marriages in terms of seeking financial stability and the perception of an eight to five job. Just because marriages are held in church doesn’t mean God has endorsed them.

God’s purpose isn’t respectful of procedures and structures. When God invokes His purpose everything then needs to be set aside.

Not every divorce is orchestrated by the devil.

God desires that everything be in line with His will so that we are assured of peace and happiness.

In this season, God is carrying out the execution of restoring the spiritual mind that man lost during the fall. He wants to restore spiritual mindedness so that things fall into place in your life. You cannot be able to handle spiritual things unless you have the mind of Christ. This is a mind that thinks like God, a heart that loves the truth and you are able to keep God’s spiritual law. This is so man has God’s spiritual likeness and is able to appreciate the essence of the law.

When someone is born again in the spiritual sense, the old mind is flushed out so that you have the mind of Christ set on things above not things below. God’s prophetic purpose for marriage is not to make you happy. Happiness is found in God, and not in marriage.

There are certain things about people that will not change unless you change your attitude. The moment you allow process to check in, you will change. God presents us with raw materials in the form of people to deal with our wrong mindsets and attitudes and to expose what is in our hearts. There are things that you cannot change in a person but will require you to change and then there will be a total disintegration of the carnal nature in you.

God has to remove every aspect of depravity in your mind. It is by the work of the Person of the Spirit of God so that you receive the heart of flesh (contrite spirit willing to move in the direction God wants) instead of a heart of stone (a religious heart). Nothing will work out in life if your mind isn’t sorted.

God is restoring us to a place of having a mind like Christ’s and having the ability to embrace the truth. God wants us to be freed from sin and to also appreciate the very essence of the law.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Jeremiah 31:33-34 (ESV)

A carnal person has a heart of stone. A heart of flesh is one that is willing and obedient to God.

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

 Ezekiel 36:26-27 (ESV)

When God allows one to go through wilderness moments, allow them to be for God to work in them and do not pass judgment. When God works in the lives of an individual, it can be painful. It may even entail them falling into sin (that God allows) so they may arrive at a place of appreciating forgiveness and God’s work on the Cross.

Religion can bind people by allowing one to embrace pain and not appreciate God’s healing.

Failure to forgive others is a sign of immaturity and will lead one to retrogress in their spiritual walk. Failure to forgive people will hinder one from walking in the Divine element of the law.

The spiritual law of God in one will show one the areas that need to be worked on.

Anything that is divine must be seen from God’s stand point. His thoughts are not our thoughts.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your way and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV)
