The Unseen Power Of Capital In Relationships: Sermon By Minister Dennis Muthuri

It is very important that to realise that the two things worth doing as humanity is:

  1. Relating well with God and
  2. Relating well with each other. actually, we are told to strive to live at peace with men and with God.

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.

Hebrews 12:14 (NKJV)

If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

Romans 12:18 (NKJV)

Relationship brings to mind the thought of a connection where you have one thing locked up in one person, another thing locked up in another person, and then they are supposed to meet somewhere in the middle.

On the earth, we have various degrees of relationships. People have relationships with parents, your better half, with a friend, with your skill and talent, with your education, etc. One of the most striking things about these relationships is that they have a certain degree of power.

A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Proverbs 17:17 (KJV)

This is my commandment: that you love one another as I have loved you.

John 15:12 (ISV)

Therefore, if [my eating a] food is a cause of my brother’s falling or of hindering [his spiritual advancement], I will not eat [such] flesh forever, lest I cause my brother to be tripped up and fall and to be offended.

1 Corinthians 8:13 (AMPC)

One of the things that these verses allude to is the fundamental principle in the Kingdom of love, and with that relationship; that we have to constantly connect with people.

It is true that things will be decreed in the heavens, things will be decreed in Eternity, Christ will speak of accomplishments that you will walk in and a prophetic word will be given. But no matter how much the Lord speaks, the one thing that is clear is that it has to manifest through people.

All words that you have heard, all promises, they have to manifest through people. This means that the key ingredient of prophetic word coming to pass is relationship. It’s how you relate with your neighbour, it’s how you relate with an unsaved person, how you relate with practically everyone in society.

Most of the testimonies that have been mentioned here in Church are actually relationship-oriented. For example, of the jobs that people have gotten, they have been through referrals. With business deals, it’s the same thing. Initially you are told in marketing that people don’t really buy your product. They buy you first, and then they buy your product second. You have to be the thing that they purchase. Who you are and your perception about something needs to be realigned such that you actually start to react in the proper and right way to circumstance lest you actually fall short of acquiring what you are meant to in relationships.

Fundamental shifts in relationships and perspectives are happening around the world in a fashion that has not never been seen. Any nation, company, institution, faith and personality that can be shaken will be shaken.

From the Merriam Webster Dictionary, ‘relationship’ is defined as; ‘The way in which two or more people or things are connected.’

From the Oxford Dictionary:

  1. The state of being connected.
  2. The way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave towards each other.

What fuels your behaviour towards something is simply the information that you have received about it. The thing that you need to understand is unless you actually change the sources of information that you consume about that particular thing, you will continue to totally miss out on what God has for you. Unless you change how you see a certain person, what you believe about a certain country, about certain places, etc. For example, very many people at national level in Britain did not know what ‘BREXIT’ is. People relegated their trust to the leader, they believed in the leader, they did not go about trying to find out what it meant themselves and what its implications to them at individual level.

God urges us to practice our salvation with fear and trembling by getting the right information about what is preached to you and also about your circumstances. A circumstance is a product of information about ourselves. The thing that circumstance does is that it gives us information. For example, if you are going through a lack of finance or you’ve gone through a heartbreak, there is information that that circumstance is giving to you. There is something it is telling you about yourself. There is something that it is pitching to you. It is like a business pitch. Therefore, you need to be careful about the way that you filter information that you receive from whatever situation you are in.

One of the ways in which you consistently do that is going back to God to confirm it. At the end of each day, do you daily go back to Christ and actually check through the information that you have received and are receiving and actually seek His view on the same? Do you go back to God to receive the right report of whatever it is that you are going through? The key thing here is that you will not like what you will hear or you may not appreciate what you hear, because for example, His answer may be that He has allowed your current set of circumstances to be as they are because He is working on your character. You may not like what He says, but you do have to take it in. You have to actually give it a consideration.

Behaviour and regard for an entity, group, nation, or person is fuelled by one major factor: perception. God has called us to the nations. As One Desire, we have even been given words of doing music at high levels nationally and the one thing that is going to stop us from accessing that which God has is:

  1. Misinterpreting what we are currently going through, and
  2. Misinterpreting where we are.

You constantly have to remind yourself that it is God Who spoke, and your perception towards that word is He has to work on your character. This means that you have to start from the bottom of something. You have to start from somewhere and He has to start building you up to conform to whatever it is that He wants you to become. He has to take you, shape you, mould you, and with that will come a series of experiences to give you information about who you are, where you are, and where you are going.

Perception is built by what we hear and see about a particular entity that we are expected to associate with.

Whenever you find yourself in a particular situation, ask yourself:

  1. What is this telling me?
  2. Why is this hitting me as I am?
  3. Are there similar people who have gone through this and can I talk to them about this?

The thing is, yes, you may be going through something that is difficult, but there is an easy way out of it – through someone else. It is a shortcut. For example, spiritual covering. This has caused us to avoid major pitfalls. Understand that whatever you need for life on this earth is locked up in a person.

The major factor here is: are you going to continue seeing people in a particular way? Are you going to actually take a step in updating the information that you have about a person? Because it is actually quite easy to arrive at a particularly wrong conclusion about someone. But, are you actually willing to give God a chance to update the information that you have about that person? Are you willing to go out of your way to give this person a chance and actually take the time to create a scenario where you will glean different information about that person and why they act the way that they do, so that it can inform your perception and your outlook so that you don’t actually miss out on what God has for you?

Giving yourself a chance to change the information that you have about someone puts you in a position of recalling the investment at some point in future.

We have to be willing to be patient with people because it takes time. You may not get all the information that you need about someone, but that’s why love is patient and long-suffering. You may not understand why someone is the way they are right now but that shouldn’t give you a reason to dismiss them just yet. You should actually be willing to give them the benefit of doubt and learn more about them.

One of the things about capital is that it’s different from money. Capital is not money. These are just inputs that can be used to create wealth.

In the Kingdom, when we look at capital, the thing that we input the most into our relationships is your character and your perception about someone.

Perception is still the number 1 ingredient because it defines how naturally you behave. It defines what you do before the person conceived a particular action ‘x’ there is a perception that preceded the conception of that particular action.

Ephesians 4 speaks of God’s perfect mate – the Church and how it should be connected in unity to function as one Body. A key ingredient of relationship, other than the perception that you have, is essentially unity. You are actually supposed to be connected as one. For you to become one, to become united, there are certain ingredients that go into that relationship.

Perception – the only way that we will become joined and supply to the Body is if we allow ourselves to go through a mindset transformation. One of the ways that will happen in the realm of time is experiences. The experiences that we actually receive with other members.

You need to take a second look about those negative reactions in the Body of Christ. You need to be quick not to react immediately when a member of the Body does something that you perceive is negative or positive. You may want to take a second to look before you actually react. You may want to take time before you actually go into giving a final stand about something. You might want to go and gain more information from God and from respectable sources about the matter before you actually jump to a certain conclusion. Honestly speaking, the thing that has torn the Church apart is bad perception. It’s not demons. For example, one of the things that is costing Kenya a trillion dollar economy is because potential business partners have not met in a context of fellowship, where the perception is Christ-like.

If you were to met a CEO at a fellowship, there is no interview that you will need to schedule with them. If they like you upfront, that is all that it’ll take for them to engage with you, because relationship has shortened all the protocol that is desired to actually get you to where you are supposed to be.

The Body, the institution of the Church, has all the solutions that the world needs. Through relationship, patience, love, all these are fruit of the Holy Spirit. If they were there in a perfect, divine economy, you wouldn’t have to auction anyone’s things. It is a vision that God has for us as a Church and He wants to manifest His Kingdom here and now.

Why Should We Stay United?

What Britain stands to lose from leaving the EU is:

1. Concessions

A concession is a preparation allowance or rate given by an organisation. For example – tax concessions (reduction, tax, discount, deduction).

Given that we have members who function at different levels of capacity, in various gates of society, could God use One Desire as a platform to bring together the next group of people who will shift the global scene of music, art and entertainment as we know it? Is it a place whereby new business paradigms and expressions of worship will be unlocked to the Body of Christ all because of unity? Could God be giving us a chance to plug into the life of the next Ben Carson, or medical discovery, etc.

In relation to concession, the aspect of reduction is that unity reduces the friction it takes to get things done. For example, if we know each other, we agree in principle, then the contract comes second. But if we don’t know each other, contracts come first, and then we agree based on the contract.

2. Freedom Of Movement

Currently, as long as you are a member of the EU, all you need is just visa and that’s it. You can access any country that want to, you can live in one state and work in another state. Because of unity, there’s no friction. You do not require a permit. They do not go through all those formalities.

As part of the Body, One Desire as a result of unity, is meant to have the freedom to divinely partake what is meant for it from the rest of the Body and also to supply, as a result of freedom because of informed perception. That we are all fighting for the same cause, it doesn’t matter where you are, we are just fighting for the same cause.

As a ministry, our capacity to receive from the Body of Christ, would be greatly hampered by our perception towards what other parts have to offer. It is why we must ensure One Desire up holds the fundamental principle that it is a multi-denominational entity and learn to accommodate without compromising on the truth.

As a fellowship, our capacity to worship truly in Christ is heavily tied to our relationship with members in and outside the Body of Christ. You cannot express your dimension of worship fully on an island. You need people. For your worship to actually be counted as substantial, there needs to be a context of people. You need to have people whom your expression is actually impacting; whom your form of worship is actually impacting. That’s why God puts you in the context of homes, schools and workplaces. Because you are actually supposed to actually impact people. It flows out from you and it goes out into the world and it goes into them and from them and the chain continues until the earth is covered by His glory.

The needs of One Desire have already been met in Christ but, will be manifested through people. Everything that One Desire actually needs is already provided for in different timings, in different seasons, but it rests within a context of relationship. It rests in people, it rests in other denominations, it rests in people seeing what you have and actually valuing it and you being to present what you have to them without any bias towards them.

What Are The Key Elements Pertaining This Level Of Unity?

1. Long-Suffering

You are to love the foreigner, because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 10:19 (ISV)

The reason why there is a shortage of labour in the market is because there are very few people who are willing to go down to the level of novices, startups and long-suffer, to train, to take on an intern and make them better than themselves.

Are you willing to take someone who is lower than you in skill-level and invest wholly in them? Are you willing to invest all you have into them so that they can rise to your level and also so that they might not be proud enough to say that they made it by themselves and be forced to do the same?

The Jews have learnt this principle and they do that. They mentor continuously because all the secrets that are within them have to continue going out and have to continue growing. This is what disunity and wrong perception is costing us.

2. Trust

Learn to give people the benefit of doubt. Weigh what they do on the scales of Scripture but understand where they currently are as people. Understand the level of truth that they have and realise that they are acting as per the truth that they know. The right response to their wrong action is to give them the right information so that they do not repeat that wrong action. Find a way of getting the right information to people. This might mean you going out of your way.

3. Love

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)

Give yourself enough time with God and have a personal relationship with Him to change the way you view and react to things.
