INFEMI SOE 2016 (Day 1) – Integrating Divine Wisdom As The Ordinance Of Pertinence – Part 1: INFEMI Sermon By Bishop Mark Kegohi

And when I came to you, brothers and sisters, proclaiming to you the testimony of God [concerning salvation through Christ], I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom [no lofty words of eloquence or of philosophy as a Greek orator might do]; for I made the decision to know nothing [that is, to forego philosophical or theological discussions regarding inconsequential things and opinions while] among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified [and the meaning of His redemptive, substitutionary death and His resurrection].  I came to you in [a state of] weakness and fear and great trembling.  And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom [using clever rhetoric], but [they were delivered] in demonstration of the [Holy] Spirit [operating through me] and of [His] power [stirring the minds of the listeners and persuading them],  so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom and rhetoric of men, but on the power of God.Yet we do speak wisdom among those spiritually mature [believers who have teachable hearts and a greater understanding]; but [it is a higher] wisdom not [the wisdom] of this present age nor of the rulers and leaders of this age, who are passing away;  but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom once hidden [from man, but now revealed to us by God, that wisdom] which God predestined before the ages to our glory [to lift us into the glory of His presence].  None of the rulers of this age recognized and understood this wisdom; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;  but just as it is written [in Scripture], “Things which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, who obey Him, and who gratefully recognize the benefits that He has bestowed].”

For God has unveiled them and revealed them to us through the [Holy] Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things [diligently], even [sounding and measuring] the [profound] depths of God [the divine counsels and things far beyond human understanding]. For what person knows the thoughts and motives of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So also no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God.  We also speak of these things, not in words taught or supplied by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual thoughts with spiritual words [for those being guided by the Holy Spirit].But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. But the spiritual man [the spiritually mature Christian] judges all things [questions, examines and applies what the Holy Spirit reveals], yet is himself judged by no one [the unbeliever cannot judge and understand the believer’s spiritual nature]. For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes]

1 Corinthians 2:1-16 (AMP)

There is divine wisdom to become what God has intended us to become. You can walk with God as a young person and remain in Him in old age.

There is wisdom for your glory. There is a hidden wisdom that can change your story.

Paul was speaking to a spiritual and yet carnal Church. They were on both extremes.

The Corinthian Church walked in high power but they were walking in human wisdom. They had all the spiritual gifts, they had a lot of power, yet they were walking in human wisdom. They were well educated and very eloquent. Yet Paul did not come to them in the eloquence of words.

It is very easy to be very intellectual in the presentation of the message of the Kingdom as in the Church globally. What you consider as intellectual will not commend you before God.

We are called to go beyond the intellectual understanding of the Gospel. The things of God go beyond book work, science and philosophy. You cannot analyze the things of God except by His Holy Spirit.

It is Christ crucified that makes you conquer death, defeat the devil and stand out above your peers. Who and what do you carry? If you keep your eyes on Jesus, it doesn’t matter where you begin. You shall end well. You are a powerhouse if you know Jesus who rose from the dead, conquered death and is seated on the throne.

Jesus is not a piece of history. He is bigger than it. History cannot contain Him. He is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. What He did 2,000 years ago, He still does today.

It is the crucified Jesus you carry that makes you stand out. When you carry Jesus, He carries you every day. In Jesus, where you end is better than your beginning. It is the crucified Jesus who makes you bigger than the devil and bigger than death.

If the Jesus that you are following is the resurrected Jesus, He owns heaven and earth.

There is an excellence of desire to know Christ by the power of His resurrection. You cannot figure out the wisdom of God. It goes beyond the deepest of depths.

Human wisdom is based on research and intellect. The Gospel of Christ is past finding out. It is infinite and higher than every height, deeper than every depth. God cannot be computed.

You need to locate your place in God. In Him you will live, move and have your being. You will not find your being in your Pastor, Bishop or Church.

Idolatry is hero worship. Your faith shouldn’t be in things but in Him who own things. Anything that gets Jesus out of your life is your idol. What you spend most time with is your idol. God is Spirit, and He is looking for people who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. Are you able to stand the challenges of life without Jesus? Without God you can do nothing!

What we need to go after is the crucified Christ. In Him everything consists. We have not because we ask not. God answers prayer. When you believe in God, things begin to happen.

Your faith shouldn’t be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Power is not power until it applicable. Any power that is not at work is called potential. It is possible to be a carrier of power that is not at work in you. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly far above all we can think or imagine according to the power at work in you. It is according to the power you apply.

Salvation is getting out of anything oppressive and depressive. Faith shouldn’t be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

When you are a carrier of power, everything you touch gets ignited.

What are you looking for? Prayer must be fired up. The power in you needs to be fired up for that power to be active.

You only become desperate when you realize you do not have anything else to cling to.
