The Power Of The Spirit Of God’s Word – Part 2: Sermon By Apostle Gobanga
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
John 1:1-4 (ESV)
…has in these last days spoken [with finality] to us in [the person of One who is by His character and nature] His Son [namely Jesus], whom He appointed heir and lawful owner of all things, through whom also He created the universe [that is, the universe as a space-time-matter continuum].
Hebrews 1:2 (AMP)
The word of God will only become life in us when it becomes formed in our hearts, and cease to be concepts and philosophies.
The word of God is also supposed to be seen as the embodiment of the Holy Spirit. Without the word of God, the Holy Spirit has no substance. What causes the Spirit of God to carry substance is the word of God.
His word is the cause and substance of what is visible. It is the prophetic purpose of the word of God. We live in a world where if things were not visible no one would believe you.
Jesus is the word of God. The Spirit of God was active in creation. In Genesis 1, all was created by the execution of the Word i.e. Jesus Himself.
During creation, the Spirit of God was very much active.
The Spirit of God’s word refers to the Person of the word of God.
When God is speaking He is basically communicating the Person of what He is saying.
What is written is an account, but what is spoken God uses to communicate the Person of the words that He is speaking i.e. Christ.
Life is vested in the Person of God and not in the principles of God or in the written word. The written word is simply accounts but what is spoken is life.
The Person of God transmits life to us when He speaks to us. Life can only be transmitted from the Person of God to humanity.
When you connect to the Person of God, there is the faculty of His nature which is transmitted to you through the impetus of His purpose, because you can never receive the nature of God without the impetus of His purpose.
The function of the nature of God is geared towards inducting us into the Person of His being.
God is not calling us to principles, but to His Person.
When God appeared before Moses in the burning bush. He introduced Himself in the 1st person ‘I’. This is because He wanted Moses that it was not a ‘thing’ speaking to Him but a Person.
You cannot connect to God in any other way but through relationship.
Whenever two people meet, they first start relating without any structures, so that out of the process of getting to know each other they then get to establish ‘rules’ of engagement.
When you are in a relationship with somebody, it is not a right, it is favour. And because it is favour, you will not do the things that would cause this person to go away and hook up with someone else. This is the same thing with God. When you realise that there are certain things that God does not like, you steer away from those things so as not to be separated from Him. This is where God’s written word comes in and you then realise why what is written is written.
When the Person of your being relates with the Person of God, you begin to get inducted into the description of His will, and the more you continue to relate with Him, you get inducted into God’s prophetic purpose to the point whereby there is the convergence of His nature that results in a fullness of His nature and the stature of Christ, and then glory of God is made manifest in and through you.
If you are short of the personification of Christ, if Christ is not abiding in you, there will be no manifestation of power. Because the nature of God and the power of God work hand in hand.
We are supposed to relate with the Person of God. This is the only way that the power of the Spirit of God’s word will find expression in you.
We cannot understand the will of God unless we are in close relationship with the Person of God. We struggle because we do not know that God is a person. Each Person of the Trinity is distinct.
Some people struggle to relate with God the Holy Spirit because they think that the He is a force. He is not a force. He is a Person.
The relationship between the Person of God and the person of man (the person of your being) determines the extent to which the word of God will be applied in your life.
When we see God as oppressive it is because we only see rules and regulations, but in relationship we see things from God’s perspective and understand His pain and burden. There is an implication when we sin not just on ourselves but on Him as well. We come to understand that God’s principles are not burdens but a place to have a like-mind with God so as to walk together. Therefore, we understand why God hates sin.
God wants us to come to the place where we see things from His perspective. He wants us to come to the place where we understand why He tells us to avoid some things.
He wants us to feel like He feels, to think like He thinks. Because He already knows how we think and how we feel.
Do two men walk together unless they have made an appointment?
Amos 3:3 (AMP)
It is only at the place of relationship that the convergence of revelation, wisdom, understanding and knowledge happens.
God wants you to come to a place whereby as He imparts things to you, you give back to Him. You give back to Him worship, your availability, obedience, etc.
Until we are in relationship with God and with one another, it does not matter how much Rhema word we receive. Because it is in fellowship that knowledge, understanding, wisdom and revelation of what God has spoken will be found.
God wants His word to personify His Son, Jesus Christ, in you. The power of the Spirit of God’s word is simply the Person of Christ.
Without the personification of Christ, Who is the Living Word in us, Christ ceases to be anything to us.
The Spirit of the Word of God is the personification of Christ through the conveyance of the Holy Spirit, translating Christ to the Person of mankind because only persons get to speak, and so the Holy Spirit of God speaks to us about Christ.
Within Christ is the nature and the Person of God. The Person of God is what enables the person of mankind to relate with God.
When your person is in relationship with God, you will be able to know His purpose, and understand His nature and consequently know the Person of God.
God’s nature is vested in His Person. As you grow in relationship with God, you also grow in your understanding of His nature.
And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], [and He did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ [the church]; until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity].
Ephesians 4:11-13 (AMP)
The 5-fold ministry was given by Christ to prepare the saints of God for the work of Christ.
For as long as the 5-fold ministry is in operation in the Church, believers will grow in the stages of knowing the description of the will of God, induction into His purpose, attaining the fullness of His nature and finally walk in the manifestation of His nature aka His glory.
The purpose of God is vested in the nature of God, and the nature of God is vested in His Person.
The more you relate with God, the more you grow in your relationship with God, and as a result you develop a divine capacity to navigate spheres of divine wisdom.
There are levels of wisdom you can never attain to unless you grow in your relationship with God. For wisdom is caught not taught.
The more you grow in relationship with God (i.e. the more your person relates with the Person of God) the more you are capacitated to navigate the spheres of divine wisdom and thus apply the principles of God. Wisdom has levels and dimensions. Wisdom is imparted and caught through relationship. The experiences we have based on relationship causes impartation.
Principles do not have life in themselves. Principles only work at the place of relationship.
Relationship is paramount and will not cease in eternity.
There is always rest in relationship. You cease from every form of labour.
No one person’s expression of their relationship with the Lord is the ultimate authority on how to relate with the Lord. Each and every believer must have their own culture of their relationship with the Lord.
When you have a relationship, paying the price is not a problem. The reason Christ did not find it hard to sacrifice Himself is because He has a relationship with His Father.
You can only become who God ordained you to be, when you embrace the truth of God’s word.
The law of Moses was written on stone tablets to reveal the rigidity of the human heart, the stiff-neckedness of the nature of the fallen man. That is why Christ was sent to us, so that He may be born in us, so that He may be formed in us.
The word is not for us to do the right things but for us to have the rationale for doing what we do. We are to be united with His purpose. The word of God is supposed to be the expression of Christ the Living Word.
It is very dangerous to hold onto traditions, Church or otherwise, because they cause you to miss out on the progressive revelation of the Word.
In relationship, there is the freedom to obey or disobey God. His attitude remains the same towards you regardless. God is not after mere obedience but for you to express love for Him as a Person. If we respond to God based on the revelation He has given us of ourselves in our (your) relationship with Him, obedience will be automatic.
