The Gravity Of Spiritual Transcendence: Sermon By Rev. Richard Muendo

In many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets, [But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order]. He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power. When He had by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high.

Hebrews 1:1-3 (AMPC)

God is the Creator of all things, of what we know and do not know. God is the source of everything.

We relate via revelation. Rhema is the proceeding word. Logos is the preceding word.

The Spirit is the very essence of your being. We are spirit beings and our physical bodies were created for manifestation.

Gravity is a condition of being serious or import, quantum of being grave or serious. It is by gravity we are held to the ground. Gravity allows us have dominion on earth.

Transcendence refers to an experience where one extends their stay in God; going beyond the natural realm of the ordinary.

Your needs are defined by the very essence of your person.

If you are businessman, your need is to function in multiple currencies. Before we fellowship, we need to understand our configuration and the placement of our jurisdiction. We should not seek things beyond our jurisdiction.

In time, space and seasons, creation awaits the manifestation of the dominion of the sons of God to manifest His purpose and move. Humility is the access into the realm of God.

Though He scoffs at the scoffers and scorns the scorners, yet He gives His undeserved favour to the low [in rank], the humble, and the afflicted.

Proverbs 3:34 (AMPC)

But He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it).

James 4:6 (AMPC)

Likewise, you who are younger and of lesser rank, be subject to the elders (the ministers and spiritual guides of the church)—[giving them due respect and yielding to their counsel]. Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility [as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance] toward one another. For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)—[and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favour, blessing) to the humble

1 Peter 5:5 (AMPC)

The appropriation of truth in time and season endows man with power to express His glory.

Spiritual comfort is the appropriation of dominion where it suits one; where man does not seek beyond that which God has given him.

We appropriate dominion where it suits us in the realm of time and space yet dominion is configured to first be in the spirit.

Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be [a]what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be [b]what is already permitted in heaven. Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and [c]everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven. For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I Am in the midst of them.

Matthew 18:18-20 (AMPC)

Common grace is that which causes rain to fall on the righteous and the wicked. It will make man flow in his dominion void of understanding his purpose.

Dominion taps into that which is spiritual, that which descends from the heart and mind of God.

You cannot be stagnant in the eternal reality of Christ Jesus.

Purpose is not comfortable.

Comfort is the satiation of the soul of man that the spirit of man lacks an outlet to release truth.

“Therefore you shall love the Lord your God, and keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments, and His commandments always. Know today that I do not speak with your children, who have not known and who have not seen the chastening of the Lord your God, His greatness and His mighty hand and His outstretched arm— His signs and His acts which He did in the midst of Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to all his land; what He did to the army of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots: how He made the waters of the Red Sea overflow them as they pursued you, and how the Lord has destroyed them to this day; what He did for you in the wilderness until you came to this place; and what He did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, their households, their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel— but your eyes have seen every great act of the Lord which He did.

“Therefore you shall keep every commandment which I command you today, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land which you cross over to possess, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord swore to give your fathers, to them and their descendants, ‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’ For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden; but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year.

‘And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.’ Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, lest the Lord’s anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you.

“Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth. For if you carefully keep all these commandments which I command you to do—to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him— then the Lord will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess greater and mightier nations than yourselves. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the River Euphrates, even to the Western Sea, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand against you; the Lord your God will put the dread of you and the fear of you upon all the land where you tread, just as He has said to you.

“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known. Now it shall be, when the Lord your God has brought you into the land which you go to possess, that you shall put the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal. Are they not on the other side of the Jordan, toward the setting sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the plain opposite Gilgal, beside the terebinth trees of Moreh? For you will cross over the Jordan and go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you, and you will possess it and dwell in it. And you shall be careful to observe all the statutes and judgments which I set before you today.

Deuteronomy 11 (NKJV)

In the era of possession, dominion is given out of the works of the hand of God not man’s. Dominion gives reference to God’s work made manifest in man’s hands.

Dominion is a lasting state with the sight of generations. It is not an event but a lasting state for the manifestation of the purpose for generations. Dominion is the crowning of God over man.

What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him? Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honour. You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet. All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field, The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes along the paths of the seas.O Lord, our Lord, how excellent (majestic and glorious) is Your name in all the earth!

Psalm 8:4-6 (AMPC)

Dominion’s fruit is for the acknowledgment of God’s glory not man’s. We need to be wary of Rhema becoming one’s idol and using it to crown oneself.

Why is there a delay at the brink of spiritual destiny? Psalm 8 uncovers the answer – they do not ascribe glory and honour unto the Lord. Human hands are at work. God will not share his glory with man.

David succeeded by inquiry. We need to move into the realm of second hearing.

Authority and power – sons need to be trained to access their authority i.e. dominion.

One cannot unlock spiritual destiny with human keys. Money opens doors. Wisdom keeps them open.

Divine keys do not just open a door momentarily – they usher one into a reality in God.  Human understanding with spiritual lingo does not change it – it is still human.

[Instead of repairing the breaches, the officials] make a feast for laughter, serve wine to cheer life, and [depend on tax] money to answer for all of it.

Ecclesiastes 10:19 (AMPC)

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city; the poverty of the poor is their ruin.

Proverbs 10:15 (AMPC)

And give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise in the earth

Isaiah 62:7 (AMPC)

Some of us are just praying but not transcending because we are praying out of selfish desires. Prayer without transcendence is mere babbling.

What leads to strife (discord and feuds) and how do conflicts (quarrels and fightings) originate among you? Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members? You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. [To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned.] You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask. [Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.

James 4:1-3 (AMPC)

Spiritual fruit is a reality of alignment, submission and actualization of purpose in time and season. Be careful not to confuse common grace with spiritual fruitfulness. Common grace manifests the grace of God.

Or are you [so blind as to] trifle with and presume upon and despise and underestimate the wealth of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering patience? Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repent ([to change your mind and inner man to accept God’s will)?

Romans 2:4 (AMPC)

Until a desire becomes a need, it doesn’t suffice craving after it. It’s okay to desire luxurious stuff, but only at a place where they evidently suffice to meet a need not a want.

Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13 (AMPC)

Seek Me and you will find Me – this is an invitation to transcend.

A man of dominion does not seek experiences. He manifests experiences that are a manifestation of his transcendence. Experience should serve the purpose of revealing a certain reality of Christ.

Experience is a punctuation of the testimony of God in the man of dominion.

Life in the spirit will not give you 25 hours in the Earth. When you are in the spirit, you know that you are unlimited.

For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth. [No] for God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame, and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame. And God also selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is lowborn and insignificant and branded and treated with contempt, even the things that are nothing, that He might depose and bring to nothing the things that are, So that no mortal man should [have pretense for glorying and] boast in the presence of God.

But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus, Whom God made our Wisdom from God, [revealed to us a knowledge of the divine plan of salvation previously hidden, manifesting itself as] our Righteousness [thus making us upright and putting us in right standing with God], and our Consecration [making us pure and holy], and our Redemption [providing our ransom from eternal penalty for sin]. So then, as it is written, Let him who boasts and proudly rejoices and glories, boast and proudly rejoice and glory in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 (AMPC)

Stewardship is not the same as ownership. The danger of human works is that we start to express ownership in the season of stewardship. This is the error of man.

There is a call to decrease in your human understanding for our thoughts are not His. In the Kingdom, there needs to be a decrease in human understanding, however spiritual it sounds.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts

Isaiah 55:8-9 (AMPC)

We need to create a culture of inquiry from God. Early morning seeking is not for us alone but for generations.

Spiritual transcendence is a state of constant growth and development in the spirit. Spiritual transcendence is a culture that reconfigures our attitudes, appetites and desires. It is a discontentment that makes you hunger for God – this is a supernatural hunger.

The heart of a supernatural demand stems from understanding that life in the spirit is a result of a transcendent reality.

One needs to place a supernatural demand for spiritual transcendence daily. It is impossible to live life without daily bread.

Without spiritual transcendence, you will die with your body still being functional.

[The Servant of God says] The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught].

Isaiah 50:4 (AMPC)

Jesus had a culture of seeking God early for He knew that each day had its own challenges. We need to emulate Him. He never repeated miracles because each problem had its own solution that He had tapped in God.

Comfort in spiritual matters is tantamount to usurping the supremacy of God’s will in our lives and replacing it with physical frames of reference.  The warning on missing out on destiny should be taken with such urgency. When we do not rise to what God has called us, generations will suffer.

Rhema Reference: 2nd October 2016.

Lack of transcendence in the spirit leads to stagnation. Stagnation brings death. Movement in the spirit is not an activity but a basic requirement for expression in the realms of the spirit from eternity to eternity. Movement is a response of a faculty of being.

Activity in and of itself in the physical is not bad but it just needs to draw from the spirit. We need to be discontent with being where we are at and seek spiritual transcendence to access spiritual blessing.

Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a man is born of water and [even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God. What is born of [from] the flesh is flesh [of the physical is physical]; and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not [do not be surprised, astonished] at My telling you, You must all be born anew (from above). The wind blows (breathes) where it wills; and though you hear its sound, yet you neither know where it comes from nor where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.

John 3:5-8 (AMPC)

We need to be like the wind. Rest is not a result of sleep but a function in God.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.

Psalm 4:8 (AMPC)

I count everything as dung and I press on.

But whatever former things I had that might have been gains to me, I have come to consider as [one combined] loss for Christ’s sake.Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One), And that I may [actually] be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law’s demands (ritualistic uprightness and supposed right standing with God thus acquired), but possessing that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ (the Anointed One), the [truly] right standing with God, which comes from God by [saving] faith.

Philippians 3:7-9 (AMPC)

Spiritual transcendence is a constant hunger that causes one to dig from one’s reservoir of identity.

We should seek Christ based on our prophetic stature.

Question: Are we cultivating spiritual backbone for generations to come?

The servant that had 5 talents more will have a dimension of rulership in the afterlife – in the new earth and new heaven.

We need to lay the foundation for the next generation, we need to dig depths for them like Abraham did for Isaac and Jacob and the descendants after them.

That I may know Christ…

[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [[a]which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope].

Philippians 3:10 (AMPC)

The Kingdom of God is multifaceted construct of infinite realities interweaved through various processes and persons actuated in Christ. This is the reality of the Body of Christ.  We respond by the insatiable pursuit of the person of Christ.

We need to be spiritual aware that God is constantly speaking and moving.
