The Mystery Of God As The Father Of Lights – Part 1: Sermon By Apostle Gobanga
To keep all His precepts unsullied and flawless, irreproachable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), which [appearing] will be shown forth in His own proper time by the blessed, only Sovereign (Ruler), the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Who alone has immortality [in the sense of exemption from every kind of death] and lives in unapproachable light, Whom no man has ever seen or can see. Unto Him be honor and everlasting power and dominion. Amen (so be it).
1 Timothy 6:14-16 (AMPC)
Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].
James 1:17 (AMPC)
God is the first Person of the Trinity and the Supreme Creator of all things.
Before the existence of the Adamite race, God began reinstituting the creation of another world. He also begot Jesus Christ as His only Son.
The Son eternally proceeds from the Father.
God the Father is the underived principle of God the Son, and through Him, the Holy Spirit. The Son is generated from the Father throughout eternity.
God the Father is the Source and origin of the Triune God.
For thus says the high and lofty One – He Who inhabits eternity, Whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, but with him also who is of a thoroughly penitent and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the thoroughly penitent [bruised with sorrow for sin].
Isaiah 57:15 (AMPC)
The Son is the image of the invisible God.
God begetting Jesus as His only Son is not through the maternal principle.
The Triune God does not exist in time but in eternity.
Heaven is a factor of eternity, created by God like the earth. The earth can only exist as long as heaven abides. It is God’s administrating realm.
No member of the Trinity existed before the other.
I will declare the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, You are My Son; this day [I declare] I have begotten You.
Psalm 2:7 (AMPC)
This statement saying this day does not in any way imply that Jesus was begotten in the dimension of time and space. It refers to an eternal day devoid of time and space. In eternity, everything is in perfect present.
God uses time to determine the counsel of His will upon humanity.
Since the fall of man, God the Father has always been unapproachable. This is why He is the Father of Lights.
Light or Kabod and glory or Doxa emanates from Him and He determines the extent He will radiate His Kabod and Doxa.
The Kabod serves as protection of His existence from every mortal being. When we are exposed to the radiance of God’s nature, we will die.
The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.
Exodus 13:21-22 (AMPC)
And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you and believe you and remain steadfast forever. Then Moses told the words of the people to the Lord.
Exodus 19:9 (AMPC)
Only Moses was permitted to access God and commune with Him face to face.
When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the door of the tent, and the Lord would talk with Moses.
Exodus 33:9 (AMPC)
Then the cloud [the Shekinah, God’s visible presence] covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle! And Moses was not able to enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud remained upon it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. In all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the Israelites went onward; But if the cloud was not taken up, they did not journey on till the day that it was taken up. For throughout all their journeys the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.
Exodus 40:34-38 (AMPC)
There is a difference between the cloud of God’s presence and the glory of God’s radiance.
There is a certain dimension of the glory of God that ushers you to see the radiance of God’s light.
God has a physical presence. This is a concealed aspect concealed in the cloud of His Kabod. This is what you cannot see. This is what Moses was told by God that he could not see.
“But,” He said, “You can not see My face, for no man shall see Me and live.”
Exodus 33:20 (AMPC)
No man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or the only begotten God, Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence] of the Father, He has declared Him [He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be seen; He has interpreted Him and He has made Him known].
John 1:18 (AMPC)
His Kabod is a protection and a shield to mortal man. The appearance of God is light. It is fire.
The burning bush was a type of God’s glory in physical form. Moses was afraid to look at God. He was instructed to remove his sandals when speaking to the burning bush. When God manifests, everything that you hold onto must fall.
In the New Testament, the glory of God is described as unapproachable light.
Who alone has immortality [in the sense of exemption from every kind of death] and lives in unapproachable light, Whom no man has ever seen or can see. Unto Him be honor and everlasting power and dominion. Amen (so be it).
1 Timothy 6:16 (AMPC)
Moses represented the Law and Elijah the prophets. Moses also represented those that will appear at rapture and Elijah represents those that will be alive when Christ appears. The transfiguration was a type of how it feels when you are before the Father.
And six days after this, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. And His appearance underwent a change in their presence; and His face shone clear and bright like the sun, and His clothing became as white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, who kept talking with Him. Then Peter began to speak and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good and delightful that we are here; if You approve, I will put up three booths here—one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah.
While he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud [composed of light] overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, This is My Son, My Beloved, with Whom I am [and have always been] delighted. Listen to Him! When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were seized with alarm and struck with fear. But Jesus came and touched them and said, Get up, and do not be afraid. And when they raised their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
Matthew 17:1-8 (AMPC)
And He Who sat there appeared like [the crystalline brightness of] jasper and [the fiery] sardius, and encircling the throne there was a halo that looked like [a rainbow of] emerald.
Revelation 4:3 (AMPC)
Light speaks of revelation, knowledge, understanding and wisdom. There is a place of light that we cannot be able to access as pertains to the Father. The secret things of God are hidden in God’s unapproachable light. There are things about God the Father that are unfathomable to us.
The secret things belong unto the Lord our God, but the things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all of the words of this law.
Deuteronomy 29:29 (AMPC)
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9 AMPC
Lucifer tried to access the dimension of unapproachable light and he fell. No being in heaven or hell can access this except Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.
John 14:6 (AMPC)
We have this access more than angels.
What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?
Psalm 8:4 (AMPC)
It is impossible to locate where God the Father is. Christ said that if you have seen Him [Christ], you have seen the Father.
If you had known Me [had learned to recognize Me], you would also have known My Father. From now on, you know Him and have seen Him. Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father [cause us to see the Father—that is all we ask]; then we shall be satisfied. Jesus replied, Have I been with all of you for so long a time, and do you not recognize and know Me yet, Philip? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say then, Show us the Father?
John 14:7-9 (AMPC)
For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].
Colossians 2:9 (AMPC)
For it has pleased [the Father] that all the divine fullness (the sum total of the divine perfection, powers, and attributes) should dwell in Him permanently.
Colossians 1:19 (AMPC)
There’s a certain wisdom of God that we cannot access. If we do, we will be destroyed and removed from existence because we can’t handle it.
God is invisible in terms of practicality but in matters of reality, He is visible.
There is a certain wisdom in God we cannot access. David said such knowledge is too high for me.
O Lord, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me. You know my downsitting and my uprising; You understand my thought afar off. You sift and search out my path and my lying down, and You are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue [still unuttered], but, behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have beset me and shut me in—behind and before, and You have laid Your hand upon me. Your [infinite] knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high above me, I cannot reach it.
Psalm 139:1-6 (AMPC)
Isaiah saw God and was undone.
In the year that King Uzziah died, [in a vision] I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the skirts of His train filled the [most holy part of the] temple. Above Him stood the seraphim; each had six wings: with two [each] covered his [own] face, and with two [each] covered his feet, and with two [each] flew. And one cried to another and said, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory! And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone and ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!
Isaiah 6:1-5 (AMPC)
May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].
Ephesians 3:16 (AMPC)
Daniel saw things in God and actually got a fever… the people around him fell down and fled.
And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision [of this heavenly being], for the men who were with me did not see the vision, but a great trembling fell upon them so that they fled to hide themselves. So I was left alone and saw this great vision, and no strength was left in me, for my fresh appearance was turned to pallor; I grew weak and faint [with fright]. Then I heard the sound of his words; and when I heard the sound of his words, I fell on my face in a deep sleep, with my face [sunk] to the ground. And behold, a hand touched me, which set me [unsteadily] upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
Daniel 10:7-10 (AMPC)
God allowed certain people to be strengthened to access His Kabod and be transfigured e.g. Moses at the cleft of the rock. This option is provided for us too in Christ Jesus. Because of Him and in Him, we have permission to access the throne of grace and the Holy of Holies.
Once the curtain was torn into two while Jesus died on the Cross, we got access to God in the most Holy place through the blood of Christ.
God moved with the Israelites in the wilderness as a pillar of fire and a pillar of cloud to protect His glory from the stiff-necked Israelites.
Any time there was judgement in Israel, it was God the Father at work.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, Lord, are in the midst of this people [of Israel], that You, Lord, are seen face to face, and that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.
Numbers 14:14 (AMPC)
The Lord would appear to Moses and remove the cloud that concealed His nature and have dialogue with him face to face.
And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Moses returned to the camp, but his minister Joshua son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the [temporary prayer] tent.
Exodus 33:11 (AMPC)
Moses’ face would be radiant after an encounter with Him. That radiance was a projection of the nature of God in unapproachable light.
Carnal people cannot exist with those who are holy. The veil Moses would put on to cover his face is a representation of the flesh and works.
God wants us to get to the place where we touch base with the reality of His Person and not get caught up in manifestations.
Like Moses, desire the real thing – relationship with God and to know God.
And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Moses returned to the camp, but his minister Joshua son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the [temporary prayer] tent. Moses said to the Lord, See, You say to me, Bring up this people, but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You said, I know you by name and you have also found favor in My sight. Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You [progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with You, perceiving and recognizing and understanding more strongly and clearly] and that I may find favor in Your sight. And [Lord, do] consider that this nation is Your people. And the Lord said, My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest. And Moses said to the Lord, If Your Presence does not go with me, do not carry us up from here! For by what shall it be known that I and Your people have found favor in Your sight? Is it not in Your going with us so that we are distinguished, I and Your people, from all the other people upon the face of the earth?
And the Lord said to Moses, I will do this thing also that you have asked, for you have found favor, loving-kindness, and mercy in My sight and I know you personally and by name. And Moses said, I beseech You, show me Your glory. And God said, I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim My name, The Lord, before you; for I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy and loving-kindness on whom I will show mercy and loving-kindness. But, He said, You can not see My face, for no man shall see Me and live. And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place beside Me, and you shall stand upon the rock, And while My glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. Then I will take away My hand and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.
Exodus 33:11-23 (AMPC)
God dwells in a light that is consummate and perfect. This light represents His perfect holiness, His infinite glory, wisdom and absolute power. There are no shadows in Him unlike the light we know.
Within God’s unapproachable light, God had a council with the Son and the Spirit to determine the foundations of the world.
The very nature and essence of God’s existence is radiance.
If we were to face, God simultaneously accessing His physical appearance beyond the veil of His Kabod, we would be judged by His absolute standards and perfection.
We are fortunate to be alive in Christ. He lives forever and was the perfect sacrifice to atone for our sins.
It is for this reason God exerted all power to raise Him from the dead. This is the power that is at work within us. [Ephesians 3]
To see the face of God as He truly is would mean being striped of every imperfection. This means you will cease to exist.
As human beings, we are alive by His grace. Beyond the veil of visibility, there is no grace.
If God were to reveal Himself, all of creation would cease to exist because it also is experienced the consequences of the fall of man.
Creation awaits for the manifestation of the sons of God. There is a restoration that only the true sons of God can bring about.
Jesus Christ covers us from the wrath of the Father. He shields us from the unapproachable light of God that would destroy us.
