The Mystery Of God As The Father Of Lights – Part 2: Sermon By Apostle Gobanga
To keep all His precepts unsullied and flawless, irreproachable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), which [appearing] will be shown forth in His own proper time by the blessed, only Sovereign (Ruler), the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Who alone has immortality [in the sense of exemption from every kind of death] and lives in unapproachable light, Whom no man has ever seen or can see. Unto Him be honor and everlasting power and dominion. Amen (so be it).
1 Timothy 6:14-16 (AMPC)
Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].
James 1:17 (AMPC)
God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all one.
The Father is the underived principle of the Son. He is the source and progenitor. God the Father does not precede the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are eternal.
I will declare the decree of the Lord:He said to me, You are My son; this day (I declare) I have begotten You.
Psalm 2:7 (AMPC)
This day in the Scripture above is not in reference to any day in time but to an eternal day.
The three persons are not divided but they are distinguished. They have one essence, yet there are three substances. There is one God, but three persons.
Essence refers to the being of God. Persons refers to the three individuals/the distinct subject.
God the Father is the uncreated Spirit and He rules in heaven. He is clothed with majestic and perfected light which is unapproachable. It’s majestic, unreachable and perfected light.
The Son is also vested with the same divine essence of the Father.
The Father begetting the Son doesn’t refer to an event but to the relationship between them. This relationship is not static. It’s continuous, progressive and eternal.
God the Father is forever dispensing His essence into the Son. This begetting is eternal. The Son receives this divine essence and dispenses it to the entire works of creation. The Holy Spirit is the executing principle of the God Head.
In eternity, the transactions of life are progressive and inexhaustible.
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
John 14:23 (NKJV)
John 14:23 – It’s impossible for you have the Holy spirit without Christ. And without Christ, you cannot have the Father.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Genesis 1:26 (NKJV)
The distinct person of God allows the Father to address the other persons using the personal pronouns of us and our.
The divine essence of God resides in each and every person of the Trinity.
The relationship between the Father and Son is based on divine reality not position or personal status. Neither person needs to do anything to prove that they are God.
The glory of God comprises all His goodness and everything He is.
There is an aspect of the love of God, His holiness and faithfulness that we cannot handle or comprehend that resides in His unapproachable light. If God revealed it, we would die. His love and judgment cannot be separated.
This is the reason why the first thing God introduces is His person not His essence. The devil has been trying to misrepresent the Father by revealing His essence, which is not wholesome.
It’s the nature of humans to go against the wisdom of God because what God considers to be wise, we consider to be foolish. Therefore, God chooses to conceal some things from us. What is found in the realm of unapproachable light belongs to God and He has no obligation to reveal them unto you.
The secret things belong unto the Lord our God, but the things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all of the words of this law.
Deuteronomy 29:29 (AMPC)
When we try to access the counsel of God without God, it implies that we are trying to compete with God and it leads us to a path of rebellion like Lucifer did in Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14.
Though the Father has always been invisible, we can hear His voice and He can manifest His presence, but not His physical presence.
Even angels have never seen God the Father. They know Him and have experienced His presence and Heard His voice, but they have never seen Him. They have seen the glorious form of the Father. To see everything would mean to undo creation.
No created form can see the Father because of His infinite glory and boundless power.
Only the Son has seen the physical form of God. Jesus is the visible image of the invisible Father and the perfect mirror of the character of the Father
When the Trinity decided to expand the universe and to create a family, it was done through love. They knew that to create a family, they had to surrender their powers and prerogatives to each other. They also decided that only one of them should be the supreme ruler of the universe for purpose of order and to display all the awesomeness, power and majesty of each of them.
This supreme ruler became God the Father. The Father became the embodiment of manifestation of all power, glory and majesty. None of the other Persons of the Trinity are short of these attributes yet they all submitted willingly to the Father. The Persons of the God head decided to have one person who will be the highest focus of adoration.
Due to the weight of responsibility bestowed on the Father, He decided to dwell in the realm of unapproachable light, and He could not manifest Himself in full to the works of creation.
God the Son decided to become the voice of the Godhead. He became the living word of God because of purpose. Jesus speaks on the behalf of the Trinity.
The Trinity decided that they should have one person who would live among men to show what it means to walk with God and that is why Christ came in bodily form. One of them would also live among men to enable them to have spontaneous and instantaneous communication with God. That is why the Holy Spirit resides in us.
The fall of man was not an afterthought. Christ decided to come on earth and surrendered to the will of the Father. He offered Himself as a sacrifice and surrendered the privileges of power and glory. He moved according to the leading of the Holy Spirit as the Father wanted.
Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!
Philippians 2:6-8 (AMPC)
There is no element of conflict or competition in creation. Any conflict is because of man. But God ensures that all things work according to God’s good. When people plan evil, love ensures that it comes to good. God has demarcated what the enemy can do in our lives.
The surrendering of the persons of the Godhead to each other is what makes God to be defined as love. Love is surrender and submission.
The garment of the Father is light. Adam and eve were clothed in luminous light. They were naked and not ashamed. Where there is light, there is no shame.
The universe is upheld by the love of God and the humility of the persons of the Godhead towards each other.
The Holy Spirit has no form. He has chosen to be invisible so that the Father may continually be glorified.
In humility, Christ chose to be the first born from the dead of all creation by being man, dying on the Cross and resurrecting. He is the pre-eminent among all created things though He is not created.
We are all firstborns when it comes to God’s purpose in our lives.
We need to learn to submit one to another so that we can become beneficiaries and partakers of each other’s blessings.
