The Intricacy Of The Confederate Man On The Throne Of His Corporate Element – Part 1: Sermon By Bishop Gobanga
Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God. On the fifth day of the month, which was in the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity, the word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the River Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was upon him there.
Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man. Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings. Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves’ feet. They sparkled like the color of burnished bronze. The hands of a man were under their wings on their four sides; and each of the four had faces and wings. Their wings touched one another. The creatures did not turn when they went, but each one went straight forward.
As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces. Their wings stretched upward; two wings of each one touched one another, and two covered their bodies. And each one went straight forward; they went wherever the spirit wanted to go, and they did not turn when they went. As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches going back and forth among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning. And the living creatures ran back and forth, in appearance like a flash of lightning.
Now as I looked at the living creatures, behold, a wheel was on the earth beside each living creature with its four faces. The appearance of the wheels and their workings was like the color of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. The appearance of their workings was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel. When they moved, they went toward any one of four directions; they did not turn aside when they went. As for their rims, they were so high they were awesome; and their rims were full of eyes, all around the four of them. When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, because there the spirit went; and the wheels were lifted together with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. When those went, these went; when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up together with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
The likeness of the firmament above the heads of the living creatures was like the color of an awesome crystal, stretched out over their heads. And under the firmament their wings spread out straight, one toward another. Each one had two which covered one side, and each one had two which covered the other side of the body. When they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings. A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings.
And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it. Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around. Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.
Ezekiel 1:1-28 (NKJV)
Ezekiel was a descendant of the Aaronic priesthood from Judah in captivity in Babylon. Ezekiel 1 is full of coded prophetic lingo. This book attempts to unseal God’s heart and purpose that He wants to consummate.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:26-28 (NKJV)
God created man to express God in His image and likeness through his dominion – Genesis 1:26-28. God desires that man increase, multiply and have dominion. Dominion is a result of expressing the image of God.
From Ezekiel’s vision, the prophet describes a person with the likeness of a man and 4 living creatures with the appearance of a man. This elucidates the mysterious relationship between God and man where God wants to become one with man so God is made manifest as man, and man as God.
Mankind was created to be the perfect representation of Himself.
There are places you can’t attain to in your prophetic purpose unless you desire to be one with God and practice His presence.
God will not use people who have no experience of Him and His divinity.
The man seated on the throne is the pre-incarnate Christ and the 4 living creatures are the Body of Christ. Christ has always been in the process of gaining a group of believers who carry out His move and express Him.The expression of God is Christ.
Christ has always been a corporate expression and the embodiment of God. Christ is the reality of the fullness of the Divine nature of God and His plan of redemption.
Christ is the embodiment God. Christ is the reality of God’s electrum. An electrum is a naturally occurring alloy of gold and silver, with other trace amounts of copper and other metals. Christ represents the fullness of the redemptive work of God.
God should not be seen in singular terms. In spiritual terms, God is corporate or a confederacy.
As a church, we need to stop being individualistic and be corporate. We need to be a confederate and part and parcel of the Body of the Lord. If you do not embrace the entire body of the Lord, you are out of divine order. You need to discern the entire Body of Christ. Otherwise, staying away will lead to be one being heretical.
We need to conform to what God is doing in so far as the Body of Christ. We need to be in fellowship with other believers just as the 4 cherubims were in concord and fellowship with each other. This is the pattern God wants the Body of Christ to have.
An individualistic person cannot express Christ. When people are self-centered, they will lack function.
He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
Ephesians 1:9-10 (NKJV)
Also to enlighten all men and make plain to them what is the plan [regarding the Gentiles and providing for the salvation of all men] of the mystery kept hidden through the ages and concealed until now in [the mind of] God Who created all things by Christ Jesus. [The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere. This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in [the person of] Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 3:9-11 (NKJV)
If you want to move with God, you must be in fellowship with other people. The triune God has an economy.
For everything God has created is good, and nothing is to be thrown away or refused if it is received with thanksgiving .
1 Timothy 1:4 (NKJV)
God has ordained a purpose – to work Himself into us, to make us His corporate expression.
He is self-sufficient and self-existing. He is not obligated to fellowship with us to be God. He wants to share a portion of Himself with us that we may reign with Him.
In Ezekiel 1, there is a clear expanse referred to as a throne (referring to the throne of government) and a man seated on the throne (who is both God and man as pre-incarnate Christ)
For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Isaiah 9:6-7 (NKJV)
God the Son has always had a human form even in eternity past.
These 4 living creatures also have the appearance of a man. God will always find a man on earth to accomplish His purpose. God is looking for an individual to affect the multitudes.
It is never the visionary who runs with the vision. It is those who discern the vision that run with it.
God looks for a person because He has the multitude in mind concerning what He wants to accomplish on earth. It is through an individual that God uses to interpret the vision for the multitudes. Such was the case with Moses to the people of Israel.
The man on the throne is the person that has a corporate expression. The living creatures move with lightning speed aligned to the vision of the man on the throne.
The wheel within the wheel is symbolic that when you plug into a vision given to a visionary then your own vision will be amplified.
As the Body of Christ in Kenya, whatever we do should bear in mind the Person seated on the throne. We need to be united in our diversity. There is an aspect of your individuality that will never attain to fullness if you never embrace everyone within the Body of Christ.
As the Body of Christ, just like the 4 living creatures facing each their own direction but rising together, we need to be united in the diversity of our jurisdiction. The 4 living creatures were positioned in a huge wheel (indicating God’s unhindered will on earth). We must be united and not hinder God’s will on earth.
As long as we remain one with God, we will be connected to each other and be able to embrace diversity. The appearance of an eagle on the 4 living creatures represented that whatever they were doing was of God and not of themselves.
An eagle in prophetic language represents divinity. Wherever you go, the eyes of God are watching out for you. There has got to be a consummation of the Church that will be the radiance of Christ seated on the throne.
What we see in Ezekiel’s vision is that God wants us to flow with the Spirit of God who is like the wind. We need to come to a place where we move like the wind. We need to come to a place where we do not question what is happening through process.
The fire of God and the wilderness refine us. Jesus Himself after baptism was led by the Holy Spirit to the wilderness to be tempted. You cannot escape the wilderness.
We can never do exploits for God unless we overcome ourselves and overcome the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
Ezekiel was a priest but unlike others in his time, he was a spiritual priest. The things of God are spiritual and those that are spiritual are the ones mandated to carry out the things of God. The Church should be a spiritual organism and not a corporate organism.
The context of Ezekiel’s vision was during the captivity of Judah. This is to say that it is possible to experience God even when you are going through tough situations.
Paul’s best epistles – Ephesians, Philippians, etc – were written in captivity. Regardless of your circumstance, transact with God. You need to offer yourself as a living sacrifice not as a prayer.
I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.
Romans 12:1 (AMPC)
Worship creates a prophetic ambiance from which prophetic prayers are made. Worship invites ministration of angels.
Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?
Hebrews 1:14 (AMPC)
God met Moses at the burning bush because He had Israel and their captivity in mind. God uses individuals that are part of the multitude.
The visions of God as seen by Ezekiel are not psychological things. They are an inward spiritual exercise that even you can experience.
You need to exercise your spirit man through prayer, fasting and worship. Worship creates a prophetic ambiance to pray prophetically. It attracts the ministration of angelic beings.
Good intercession is birthed out of worship. Where there is worship, there is the encampment of angelic hosts. We are to present to others what we have seen/perceived in visions as it may deliver them too.
Behold, you are beautiful, my love! Behold, you are beautiful! You have doves’ eyes.
Songs Of Songs 1:15 (AMPC)
Your neck is like a tower of ivory, your eyes like the pools of Heshbon by the gate of Bath-rabbim. Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon which looks toward Damascus.
Songs Of Songs 7:4 (AMPC)
We have visions to see from God’s perspective and to see our limitation and the captivity that we should be delivered from. Vision is supposed to build or edify people, not destroy.
Whatever you receive from God through visions requires wisdom and understanding to know how to appropriate it for your life and generation. There’s an inward seeing where we discern our spiritual condition and are humbled unto repentance and alignment.
God wants us to not only see things from His perspective but to appropriate what we see in our lives. To see a vision, you need revelation and divine sight. When you operate in the realm of vision, you will be preserved to remain in God’s way to serve God’s purpose. It will cause a revolution in your life. Vision does not cause you to attract multitudes but certain individuals.
Ezekiel sought God in his spirit. He was able to see divine and heavenly visions and he set his heart on what he saw. God will never give you something for you alone. He has other people in mind. He has your generation in mind.
God wants you to have a vision that gives you an inner seeing that is glorious and creates humility like Isaiah had.
In the year that King Uzziah died, [in a vision] I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the skirts of His train filled the [most holy part of the] temple. Above Him stood the seraphim; each had six wings: with two [each] covered his [own] face, and with two [each] covered his feet, and with two [each] flew. And one cried to another and said, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory! And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone and ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts! Then flew one of the seraphim [heavenly beings] to me, having a live coal in his hand which he had taken with tongs from off the altar. And with it he touched my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity and guilt are taken away, and your sin is completely atoned for and forgiven. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isaiah 6:1-8 (AMPC)
The vision revealed the sorry state of the people and a call to action. You need revelation – the light that God shines upon an area of your life that has been darkened.
The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.
Psalm 119:130 (AMPC)
You need divine sight that makes you keen to details of things God has shown. You then become restricted in the way you live your life. Vision gives you direction in the way you live your life.
When you operate in the realm of vision, you will be governed by God daily. When you are committed to a heavenly vision, you will face all manner of unjust suffering.
There are aspects of God we need to touch base with if we will serve God’s purpose.
God wants you to understand that though you are a unique individual, you are in the midst of other individuals. The fullness of your individuality will only be fulfilled when you connect with the confederacy of the man seated on the throne.
The four creatures were one. They represent the faces of God. There are dimensions that we need to walk in when we are one in the Body of Christ.
Your individuality will get to actuate once you partner with the confederate man on the throne – Christ.
