INFEMI SOE 2017 (Day 1): The Dominant Culture In The Context Of Our Dominion | INFEMI Sermon By Rev. Daniel Kamau

INFEMI SOE 2017 (Day 1) – The Dominant Culture In The Context Of Our Dominion: INFEMI Sermon By Rev. Daniel Kamau

So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.

Genesis 1:27-28 (AMPC)

Dominion is not destruction. It is stewardship. It only becomes destruction in the hands of a fallen man but it is stewardship in the hands of a son.

Culture is an atmosphere of the expression of dominion.

Dominion (Rada) – it’s the culture of dominion in Eden. It’s the cultural mandate given to man.

Dominion is for the perpetuation of a Kingdom culture.

Ever since the Tower of Babel [Genesis 11:1-9], there came to be what was known as the dominant culture.

Dominant means ruling, governing, occupying or being in an elevated position.

The failure of man after the fall in Eden was that man started dominating man.

Culture eats strategy for breakfast.

Peter Drucker

A culture is dominant because of the strength of its strategies. The strategies are to be executed in the dimensions of Christ.

In every age, there has been a dominant culture.

The Book of Deuteronomy is a precautionary text. It warned the Israelites not to be like the nations that they would enter into.

Moses had to deal with the Egyptian culture while Joshua had to deal with the Canaanite culture. Jesus and His apostles had to deal with the Graeco-Roman culture, Timothy had to deal with the Ephesian church and the Corinthians had the agnostic culture.

Anglo-Saxon culture is the dominant culture in our times.

I do not ask that You will take them out of the world, but that You will keep and protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), [just] as I am not of the world. Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.

 John 17:15-17 (AMPC)

Prophetic insight coupled with our identity forms our executive ability i.e. the ability to execute all that God has said.

Because Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego knew who they were in Babylon, they were able to solve an enigma for Nebuchadnezzar.

Then Daniel went to his house and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, So that they would desire and request mercy of the God of heaven concerning this secret, that Daniel and his companions should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night, and Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

Daniel 2:17-19 (AMPC)

Babylon will always impose labels on you e.g. the names given to Daniel and his friends. This is what the dominant culture is doing – imposing labels instead appropriating identity. c.f. Gideon.

As we prepare to go to the gates, we shall consider them from the place of prophetic insight over individuals and the community at large.

The very foundation of the Anglo-Saxon culture is Babel.

God does not speak to your circumstances or the labels you’ve picked for yourself.

The dominant culture will inform the spirit of the age and God’s dealings with us.

Only Jesus can unite the human race at His great white throne. The Antichrist cannot.

Serving any culture outside of God disadvantages fellow man.

The fall of the kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar was an example of how the culture of man would fail, giving way to the culture of the Kingdom of God.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks. When Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ. But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them, “Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue. Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized.

Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.” And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him to the judgment seat, saying, “This fellow persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”

And when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of wrongdoing or wicked crimes, O Jews, there would be reason why I should bear with you. But if it is a question of words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of such matters.” And he drove them from the judgment seat. Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. But Gallio took no notice of these things. So Paul still remained a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.

Acts 18:4-18 (NKJV)

From Acts 18:4-18, we see that you cannot hangout with Christ and remain the same. Paul was a living breathing expression of a Kingdom saint.

What we shall consider in the context of the dominant culture and the context of our dominion:

The Reality Of Baptism

Baptism means immersion. It means to be immersed, to be saturated with. This is what it means to be immersed in Kingdom culture.

Are we going to pick the labels at the gates or are we going to perpetuate Kingdom culture?

We need to deal with our biases from the dominant culture we have grown up with i.e. our tribal identities as we take hold of the mandate of dominion.

Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, “All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).”

Matthew 28:18-20 (AMPC)

In the days of the kings Amraphel of Shinar, Arioch of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer of Elam, and Tidal of Goiim, They made war on the kings Bera of Sodom, Birsha of Gomorrah, Shinab of Admah, Shemeber of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, that is, Zoar. The latter kings joined together [as allies] in the Valley of Siddim, which is [now] the [Dead] Sea of Salt. Twelve years they had served Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled. And in the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him attacked and subdued the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim, And the Horites in their Mount Seir as far as El-paran, which is on the border of the wilderness. Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat, which [now] is Kadesh, and subdued all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Hazazon-tamar.

Genesis 14:1-7 (AMPC)

Abraham was a man who lived in tents but raised 318 men who defeated Kings. There is a training and raising of sons that will cause us to ascend into dominion.

We have been called to execute the mandate of dominion in the context of a dominant culture.

There is a strength that you find in God that enables you to accomplish things that you would not have been able to otherwise.

We have been called to execute mandate of dominion in the context of a dominant culture. That means we have to go through a training.

Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep. And he said to me, “What do you see?” So I said, “I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps. Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.” So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, “What are these, my lord?”

Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts. ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” ’ ”

Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands shall also finish it. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the Lord, which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.”

Then I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees—at the right of the lampstand and at its left?” And I further answered and said to him, “What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?” Then he answered me and said, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” So he said, “These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.”

Zechariah 4:1-14 (NKJV)

Zerubbabel means born in Babel.

There is a class that you need to enroll into that is to be found nowhere else. There is a teaching that you can get from Christ, that you cannot get anywhere else.

[The Servant of God says] The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught].

 Isaiah 50:4 (AMPC)

There is a yieldedness that will cause the Lord to allocate the resources of heaven to the execution of your mandate.

For any son to actuate the dimensions of Christ for the execution of dominion, they must be yielded to God.

There is an awakening you go through when you start walking with God.

There is a yieldedness that will cause the spirit of God to continuously flow in your life.

There is a yieldedness that will cause a son to execute the mandate of dominion.

There is a yieldedness that God is seeking for in a man.

The magnitude of our dominion has no human factor in it, it will only take God’s grace.

The mandate of dominion requires absolute yieldedness.

We cannot use the blueprint of the dominant culture to execute the mandate of dominion.

God is the Author and the Finisher of our faith. When you are through executing the mandate of dominion, it will be said that it is of God.

There are things that the Lord has sent us to build aright. In order to build right, but you need to interrogate your construction materials.

Who [with reason] despises the day of small things? For these seven shall rejoice when they see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. [These seven] are the eyes of the Lord which run to and fro throughout the whole earth.

Zechariah 4:10 (AMPC)

But if anyone builds upon the Foundation, whether it be with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, The work of each [one] will become [plainly, openly] known (shown for what it is); for the day [of Christ] will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done. If the work which any person has built on this Foundation [any product of his efforts whatever] survives [this test], he will get his reward. But if any person’s work is burned up [under the test], he will suffer the loss [of it all, losing his reward], though he himself will be saved, but only as [one who has passed] through fire.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 (AMPC)

There is a building that is happening. It is because of the Apostolic grace that we will build aright.

The first thing you need to learn is to yield to the Holy Spirit. If you are to build aright in the context of the dominant culture, you need to yield to the Holy Spirit.

When we are at the place of dominion, will it result in us segregating ourselves from people?

Are we going to get to the place of dominion and then become the expressions of dominant culture? Or are we going to give God the praise?

Are we going to be yielded to the Lord in the context of the dominant culture?
