Eternal Vigilance Of Surrender: Sermon By Deacon Sam Wachira
And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight or to be desired—good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life also in the center of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of [the difference between] good and evil and blessing and calamity.
Genesis 2:9 (AMPC)
Every decision we make is influenced by our understanding of what is good and evil.
Evil is not equal and opposite to good. It is the absence of good.
The Tree Of Life represented a state of infinite existence. The Tree Of Good And Evil represented the state of infinite possibility.
Why then does God tell Adam not to eat from the Tree Of Good And Evil? He wanted to define for Adam what is evil and what is good. In every creative act of God – upon accomplishment He called it good.
When Adam named animals, he was exercising a culture of obedience by walking in his dominion.
Adam would judge creation as good as he continued in his fellowship with God.
The tempting of Eve was rooted in motive. What was at stake here was Satan coming into the picture – he came to get access to man’s capacity to judge. This he usurped by corrupting Adam and Eve. He came to defy God, sin and also get away with it.
Even the Father judges no one, for He has given all judgment (the last judgment and the whole business of judging) entirely into the hands of the Son, so that all men may give honor (reverence, homage) to the Son just as they give honor to the Father. [In fact] whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, Who has sent Him.
John 5:22-23 (AMPC)
The wages of sin is death. The Lord kicked Adam and Eve out of Eden so that they wouldn’t eat from the Tree Of Life and thereby access the state of infinite existence.
Anything that we consider not possible is informed by lack of knowledge of some of what may be good and evil.
Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood [for I considered] their end. [After all] You do set the [wicked] in slippery places; You cast them down to ruin and destruction. How they become a desolation in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors! As a dream [which seems real] until one awakens, so, O Lord, when You arouse Yourself [to take note of the wicked], You will despise their outward show.
For my heart was grieved, embittered, and in a state of ferment, and I was pricked in my heart [as with the sharp fang of an adder]. So foolish, stupid, and brutish was I, and ignorant; I was like a beast before You. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You do hold my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to honor and glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And I have no delight or desire on earth besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever.
Psalm 73:17-26 (AMPC)
Every tree had a revelation of who Christ is. Adam got an expansion of his understanding and consciousness as he kept the garden and thereby got capacity to govern Eden. #SELAH
What you govern influences your capacity in dominion.
God wanted Adam to first know how to discern God’s goodness in Eden.
When you understand God’s definition of what is good, you will be less frustrated by your prevailing circumstances. #SELAH
Adam was to bring out the good in Eden, himself and Eve.
He who finds a wife finds a good thing – he has found favour in the eyes of the Lord. Said in another way, he has found capacity in himself to govern and she administrates.
In Genesis 3, man eats of the Tree Of Good And Evil. Man’s first attempt to administrate fell short because he did it in the absence of the presence of God.
Adam’s rulership was corrupted and the realm of possibility became finite instead of infinite as it was intended by God.
His realm of possibility diminished. He could only rule as far as his perception allowed him to.
He hid and covered himself with fig leaves. His mind realized that he was naked and so he hid. These were the circumstances that he found himself in. Secondly, in his failure, he blamed Eve.
Realms in which man makes moral decisions:
- For fear of being punished.
- For self interest.
- For looking good.
- For compliance to the law of the land.
- For the good of everyone else. Mostly the majority.
- For anything that violates your internal liberties.
Adam passed judgment on Eve for tempting him and Eve passed judgement on the serpent as being the source of the temptation.
God judged Adam and Eve and corrected the judgment Adam passed on Eve and Eve the serpent.
God singled out the an aspect of creation that had been compromised and cursed it – the serpent.
The ground henceforth limited personal possibility for man – thorns in the ground – he had to work and eat from the sweat of his brow.
Surrender is letting God define for us what is good and evil. This way realms of impossibilities are made possible.
In every miracle that Christ performed, He first judged the situation. Pharisees thought their knowledge of God was final and thereby would judge Christ based on that knowledge.
For us to speak justice in our land requires us to access God, for us to be able define what is good and what is evil.
Knowing the Father gives us access to the capacity to rule in the realm of dominion.
God called us to rule with Him as co-heirs.
But Jesus answered them, My Father has worked [even] until now, [He has never ceased working; He is still working] and I, too, must be at [divine] work. This made the Jews more determined than ever to kill Him [to do away with Him]; because He not only was breaking (weakening, violating) the Sabbath, but He actually was speaking of God as being [in a special sense] His own Father, making Himself equal [putting Himself on a level] with God. So Jesus answered them by saying, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the Son is able to do nothing of Himself (of His own accord); but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way [in His turn].
John 5:17-19 (AMPC)
Things that are impossible to men are possible with God for He is Truth.
Creation is awaiting for the manifestation of the sons of God so that they can exercise His definition of what is good and evil. #SELAH
The Holy Spirit gives us access to the heart of the Father.
But Jesus looked at them and said, With men this is impossible, but all things are possible with God.
Matthew 19:26 (AMPC)
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
“Be ye Holy for I am Holy.”
1 Peter 1:16 (NKJV)
God has called us to a higher place of perfect representation.
For us to exercise dominion it is basically doing the good works of the Father.
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 (AMPC)
Man sought to pursue the realm of possibility without God. Chef’s Soup Analogy – stealing the ingredients for a recipe and trying to put them together to attain the promised outcome without the actual instructions.
You shall know them by their fruit. The seed of the word of God is planted in our hearts. (Luke 8) There is a harvest of 30, 60, 100 fold.
People express various manifestations of the word of God in their lives.
The enemy steals the word and looks for a vessel that is not submitted to God.
“Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
Luke 8:8 (NIV)
The act of surrender is God telling us that our capacity to judge is incomplete and us telling God we bend the knee to His rulership.
Addendum:
Man needed to be spiritually nourished from the Tree Of Life – Christ – for him to administrate his dominion.
People get excited about mysteries but they are not spiritually nourished by Christ day to day.
We activate the life of Christ in us by worship.
All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 (AMPC)
Worship expands your capacity to be a good judge of the things of God.
The reformation was born out of a Spirit-led search of Scripture by Martin Luther.
Some of the changes we want to execute in society will be borne out of a life of devotion to the Lord in the cool of the day.
The issue was not the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil but the heart of man that needed to know that he needs to obey the Father.
Lucifer was a worshipper – he was to induct the pre-Adamite world into worship. It is for this reason until today he fights true worship.
Lucifer was the seal of perfection. He could judge that which was imperfect. He attained this by growing in worship.
God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).
John 4:24 (AMPC)
Worship is the highest response to God as man gets a revelation of God.
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8 (AMPC)
Man was banished from Eden so that he could not live forever in his fallen state. Christ, the Tree Of Life, gives us access to life eternal.
When you have access to the truth (reality), euphoria will not move you. You are grounded.
As saints who worship the Lord in spirit and in truth, it means we can judge people, situations and institutions accurately.
To judge means looking at a set of factors against the backdrop of prophetic purpose of God.
Any time God wanted to speak to a multitude, He spoke to a person where His voice was a still, small voice. To a multitude, the voice is thunder and rumblings.
