Accessing Propitious Time: Sermon By Deacon Rob Omol

The definition of propitious is to be favourably disposed or tending to favour.

The analogy we keep in mind is that of Bernard’s Watch, which is an old television show. Bernard used to be late all the time until he met a postmaster who gave him a watch that could stop and reverse time.

In the beginning God (prepared, formed, fashioned, and) created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1 (AMPC)

The heavens and the earth have their own dimension of time.

Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.

2 Peter 3:8 (AMPC)

God is eternal and is not governed or affected by time. Thus, His perception of time is different from ours.

Since we have the nature of Christ when we became believers, we are to have His view. God has no beginning for He is eternal. All things created by Him have their own dimension of time.

If then you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth. For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:1-3 (AMPC)

Time is a progression of events in past, present and future regarded as a whole. It is quantified. There is always an addition as we are gaining quantity.

Time is created and earth is a realm of manifestation. We are to use time to bring forth the manifestation of Divine things.

1. Time Is Used By God To Fulfill His Purpose

Time was made for man, and not man made for time thus we are to govern it not manage it. We have dominion over time.

God showed us how to use time. In Genesis, He created in 6 days and on the 7th day He rested. He taught us that time has a purpose.

[He planned] for the maturity of the times and the climax of the ages to unify all things and head them up and consummate them in Christ, [both] things in heaven and things on the earth.

Ephesians 1:10 (AMPC)

2. God Uses Time To Guide His People

[Prompted] by faith Noah, being forewarned by God concerning events of which as yet there was no visible sign, took heed and diligently and reverently constructed and prepared an ark for the deliverance of his own family. By this [his faith which relied on God] he passed judgment and sentence on the world’s unbelief and became an heir and possessor of righteousness (that relation of being right into which God puts the person who has faith).

Hebrews 11:7 (AMPC)

God is able to show you things not in your time because He is not held back by time. With the mind of Christ, you can have dominion over time.

3. He Uses It To Process His People

And God heard their sighing and groaning and [earnestly] remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

 Exodus 2:24 (AMPC)

The aspect of remembrance in the verse is used to bring to mind that there is the element of the past.

4. God Uses Time To Bring Glory To Himself

Because of faith also Sarah herself received physical power to conceive a child, even when she was long past the age for it, because she considered [God] Who had given her the promise to be reliable and trustworthy and true to His word.

Hebrews 11:11 (AMPC)

The natural realm has three dimensions. Therefore, we see things in length, width and height and for geographical location we have latitude, longitude and altitude. There is a fourth dimension in the natural realm and this is time.

Everything visible was created from that which is invisible. Time is invisible and is measured through what we can see in terms of 3D elements such as motion, growth, expansion and death.

When we see miracles, it is because the realm of heaven has intercepted earth and the laws of heaven have superseded the law of earth.

There are the 3 dimensions that govern heaven. They are righteousness and peace and joy.

Abraham walked in righteousness, peace and joy so he was able to see beyond his time.

[After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Romans 14:17 (AMPC)

The fourth dimension in heaven is that propitious moment for decision and action. This is also known as a prophetic moment or a kairos moment. In heaven, we can increase the quality of time or redeem time by walking in righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Propitious time carries several qualities:

1. The Preservation & Sustenance Of Life And All That Pertains To It

Why did you say, She is my sister, so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife; take her and get away [from here]!

Genesis 12:19 (AMPC)

Sarah’s youth was preserved and this can be termed as a time miracle.

The Israelites’ clothes did not wear out. God sustains life.

2) We Will Have Eternal Access & Shifts

Because of faith Enoch was caught up and transferred to heaven, so that he did not have a glimpse of death; and he was not found, because God had translated him. For even before he was taken to heaven, he received testimony [still on record] that he had pleased and been satisfactory to God.

Hebrews 11:5 (AMPC)

Enoch partook of something that was not accessible to him in his time. According to history, Enoch used to disappear often to be with God. Sometimes for weeks.

And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him]. Enoch saw our days in his day.

Genesis 5:24 (AMPC)

It was of these people, moreover, that Enoch in the seventh [generation] from Adam prophesied when he said, Behold, the Lord comes with His myriads of holy ones (ten thousands of His saints)To execute judgment upon all and to convict all the impious (unholy ones) of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed [in such an] ungodly [way], and of all the severe (abusive, jarring) things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.

Jude 1:14-15 (AMPC)

3. Quantum Leaps And Teleportation

The only reason time exists is so that everything does not happen at once.

Albert Einstein

For us who have an eternal mindset, we can have an eternal lifestyle.

4. Boldness That Comes By Faith

Time spent in God’s presence gives you a boldness that cannot be gained from experience and years.

Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools [common men with no educational advantages], they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:13 (AMPC)

5. Time Miracles

Then Joshua spoke to the Lord on the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, be silent and stand still at Gibeon, and you, moon, in the Valley of Ajalon! And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation took vengeance upon their enemies. Is not this written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.

Joshua 10:12-13 (AMPC)

Time was made subject to Joshua.

So he arose and went to Zarephath. When he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her, Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand. And she said, As the Lord your God lives, I have not a loaf baked but only a handful of meal in the jar and a little oil in the bottle.

See, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it—and die. Elijah said to her, Fear not; go and do as you have said. But make me a little cake of [it] first and bring it to me, and afterward prepare some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: The jar of meal shall not waste away or the bottle of oil fail until the day that the Lord sends rain on the earth.

1 Kings 17:10-14 (AMPC)

I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes have not worn out upon you, and your sandals have not worn off your feet.

Deuteronomy 29:5 (AMPC)

Time can run out but your provision does not. Time miracles also entails doing many things in a short period of time. It is running and not going weary.

How do we access propitious time as sons?

1. Grow In Faith

Righteousness was credited to Abraham because of his faith. God takes faith and gives righteousness.

When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Proverbs 16:7 (AMPC)

Faith gives access to peace and harmony.

For to the person who pleases Him God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and heaping up, that he may give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after the wind and a feeding on it.

Ecclesiastes 2:26 (AMPC)

Faith increases the quality of time.

Christ is the best example of someone who lived in both the heavenly and earthly realm.

2. Grow In Favour

Scripture: Matthew 20.

We need to ask ourselves how we react when other people receive favour.

Favour is dependent on God when He visits you. He spoke to Joshua when it was his time not when Moses was leading.

3. Grow In Obedience

Rest is the environment where we get to access propitious time.

For in a certain place He has said this about the seventh day: And God rested on the seventh day from all His works. And [they forfeited their part in it, for] in this [passage] He said, They shall not enter My rest. Seeing then that the promise remains over [from past times] for some to enter that rest, and that those who formerly were given the good news about it and the opportunity, failed to appropriate it and did not enter because of disobedience. Again He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted,

Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts. [This mention of a rest was not a reference to their entering into Canaan.] For if Joshua had given them rest, He [God] would not speak afterward about another day. So then, there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath-rest reserved for the [true] people of God; For he who has once entered [God’s] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own.

Hebrews 4:4-10 (AMPC)

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:15-16 (AMPC)

Restitution is being positioned and accessing the grace that was apportioned to you so that you can experience the opportune moment that you lost in the past.
