Dimensions Of Spiritual Warfare: Sermon By Bishop Gobanga

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

Colossians 1:16 (KJV)

There is a difference between that which is imaginary and that which is invisible. We often collapse the two. This often occurs in the realm of our mind.

It follows then that spiritual warfare is rife in the realm of our minds – thoughts, actions and ultimately our will. 

We have 3 heavens:

1. 1st Heaven:  The sky – the stars and the universe. 
2. 2nd Heaven: The realm of the spirit – where decisions are executed in the kingdom of darkness.
3. 3rd Heaven: Paradise – the throne room of God.

It behooves us to have knowledge about how to engage in spiritual warfare.  

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 

Hosea 4:6 (KJV)

We must first receive the mandate to wage warfare from God and not man. 

There must be God’s consent to engage in spiritual warfare. We must get wisdom from God on how to wage warfare. Warfare in the spirit is more diabolical in the flesh. 

You must function under the superintendence of the Holy Ghost. He must come upon you and lead you. You need an anointing to wage warfare. He must guide you on how to deal with certain forces. 

Spiritual warfare is not synonymous to spiritual maturity. 

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

1 John 2:20 (KJV)

Intercession is accurate in the place to submission to authority.  

An immature believer can be thrust into battles in the context of their circumstances if they are under the leading of the Holy Spirit. 

Spiritual maturity comes after many years of application of God’s word and overcoming the devil. 

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Seeing in the spirit is done in part. Revelation is a fragment of the things that God has in store for all the saints. 

Superstition has crept into the Body of Christ especially with intercessors. They spiritualise everything. 

Some people say the storm in their lives are attacks from the devil yet they are the ones who are walking in disobedience. It takes discernment to delineate Satan’s attack. Not all storms have a purpose.  

If you open a door of unconfessed sin or of an unholy alliance in your life, there will be attacks. 

Some saints believe the devil is deeply immersed in plotting attacks against our lives. The truth is that he has limited power and knowledge. He is not omnipotent nor omnipresent. He is very limited.  

Satan’s primary enemy is the Lord not humanity. He only messes with us because he has severe hatred against the Father and God the Son – who is a threat to him. 

Spiritual warfare has nothing to do with personality, talents, gifts, calling and background. The minute you got saved as a believer, you signed up for warfare because as a Christian you are automatically in the midst of warfare 24-7.

Mental knowledge of Christ’s victory is not enough. It needs to translate to an experience on a personal level as saints. 

Suffer no witch to live. They cast hexes and spells to injure your person and life.

Spirit beings are the highest order of creation.  

God created spirits as intelligent beings with emotions and will – to obey or disobey God. 

Lucifer became envious of man once God created man to replace him. Man was created in the image and likeness of God. 

Sickness is an attack from the devil. It impairs the image and likeness of God.  

Man was created to be a steward and administrator of the mysteries of God. This is the position that Lucifer fell from.   

Gabriel is the Holy Spirit’s P.A. , Michael is the Father’s P.A., while Lucifer was the Son’s P.A. 

Lucifer got light – revelation and understanding – from the Son who is the Light, the Way and the Truth.  

Lucifer was the Cherub that covereth – he was to cover all of creation in the pre-Adamite age with the light of the Son of God. He was to tap from the knowledge and revelation of the Son to do that. 

Man was created to be like God the Son. He was to have dominion by having light, knowledge, revelation, understanding and wisdom to govern the Earth.   

Lucifer was referred to as the Son of Morning, The Dawn of the New Day. He had depth, breath and height of knowledge that was unsearchable to man. His power was equivalent to his knowledge.   

When deception entered into his heart, it surpassed his power, knowledge and understanding. Sin incapacitates your gifts, talents and calling.  

When the devil fell, he kept some of his power. He became the prince of the world. 

Lucifer became envious of the worship of God the Father and the Son and wanted it to be diverted to him. He led a revolt with a third of the hosts of heaven. They later took the nature of Lucifer. 

When Lucifer fell, light left him. Darkness covered the entire earth. Darkness was judgment over the earth and the pre-Adamite race. In the absence of vision, people perish. As such, on the earth there was chaos. 

The other angels that were cast out with Lucifer became territorial spirits. Any territory has a contingent of devils. 

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

 Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

The third of archangels that fell had other lower angels under their command. They now reside in the second heavens. They control the gates where the affairs of the world are executed. 

The gates of hell refer to the elders of hell – Satan’s territorial princes of hell.   

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment. 

2 Peter 2:4 (KJV)

There are some demons that were chained. Satan does not have control over them. They await their judgment and doom.  #SELAH 

The kingdom of darkness has regiments in hierarchy from most powerful to least powerful. Its headquarters is in the second heaven. 

Realms Of Warfare

(a) Principalities

These are command posts from where the devil rules. It is the highest realm of Satan’s government.  

Principality has far reaching scope geographically. There is no infighting amongst principalities. There is no breaking of ranks. 

(b) Powers & Authorities

Also known as strongholds.

This does not refer to human leaders.

Their assignment is destruction. They are energized by Satan to destroy. Certain forms of evil are reinforced by the level of sin a person or people do. This attracts strongholds. They are subservient to principalities. 

There is a prince over Kenya and under the prince there are powers and authorities that rule and reign in specific regions in Kenya. 

(c) Rulers Of Darkness

These are spirits that compete and contend for regions and territories. This impacts humanity in the form of calamities. It is for this reason that Christ was able to command/rebuke a storm.  

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Rulers of darkness impose their opinion on others and use strong and opinionated people to impose their will over masses of people.  

Gates in Scripture refer to the place where decisions are made. 

In Kenya, decisions are made in parliament. 

Satan will infiltrate human structures where decisions are made. He infiltrates by virtue of wrong decisions that are made by men in leadership. We need to pray for our leaders.  

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.

Satan thrives in the place of lack of proper authority and leadership as well as lack of submission.  

The gates of family, religion and government are key.  

When a person in power does not live according to biblical tenets, his walls crumble.  

But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief [of the celestial] princes, came to help me, for I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I have come to make you understand what is to befall your people in the latter days, for the vision is for [many] days yet to come. When he had spoken to me according to these words, I turned my face toward the ground and was dumb. And behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips.

Then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, O my lord, by reason of the vision sorrows and pains have come upon me, and I retain no strength. For how can my lord’s servant [who is so feeble] talk with this my lord? For now no strength remains in me, nor is there any breath left in me. Then there touched me again one whose appearance was like that of a man, and he strengthened me. And he said, O man greatly beloved, fear not! Peace be to you! Be strong, yes, be strong. And when he had spoken to me, I was strengthened and said, Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.

Then he said, Do you know why I have come to you? And now I will return to fight with the [hostile] prince of Persia; and when I have gone, behold, the [hostile] prince of Greece will come. But I will tell you what is inscribed in the writing of truth or the Book of Truth. There is no one who holds with me and strengthens himself against these [hostile spirit forces] except Michael, your prince [national guardian angel].

The Prince of Persia had influence over Persia geographically. To rule and govern Kenya, you need to know how Kenya looks like in the spirit. 

In Persia, there was an emperor, kings and satraps. In Kenya, there are counties. Nairobi has its subordinate ruler. 

Principalities determine how people behave in certain regions. 

Assignments of rulers of darkness:

• Rulers are assigned certain ethnicities.  
• Some are assigned religious organizations. 
• Some are assigned to impact culture and trends in society. This calls for sacrifices to these rulers of darkness.  

Rulers of darkness thrive where there is rebellion. Inherent in the rebellion is witchcraft. They reject authority. A rebellious person has the challenge of attitude in their heart. 

Submission is not reporting to each other but relationship, friendship and trust.  

Submission to authority creates a wall of protection. This is a principle in the realm of the Spirit.  

Rebellion opens one’s life to the impact of demonic activity by powers of darkness.  

Submission to authority does not mean that the person is perfect. It is the office that carries power and protection. 

President Uhuru is not perfect. We submit to him as the President due to the office he that occupies.  

The office of authority held by leaders exists as wall of protection. The purpose of authority is to slow down the multiplication of evil. 

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

(d) Spiritual Wickedness In High/Spiritual Places

These are forces that operate in the heavens to attack mankind and the Church. 

They instigate division and lethargy in a church. 

They instigate bitterness and unforgiveness and ultimate destruction in the life of a person.
