The Throne Of God: Part 2: Sermon By Bishop Gobanga
Clouds and darkness are round about Him [as at Sinai]; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
Psalm 97:2 (AMPC)
Truth is a composite of revelation, wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
Being in Christ teaches us our identity and position in God as children of God. This in turn transforms our walk with God.
You may not transform anything in the past but you can transform things in the future.
Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17 AMPC
The name of Jesus is not just a name but a function. He is the Son of God, seated at the right hand of the Father. He has all authority and power that He has in turn given to us. It is for this reason, we seek first the Kingdom of God.
Christ comes from Greek meaning Kristos – the Anointed One or the Messiah.
Identity is the reservoir of power. A powerful person is someone anchored in their identity.
When someone dies, we refer to their body as the remains. Their identity is still there. Their legacy lives on.
For you to serve the purposes of God in your generation, you need to know who you are. Your destiny is locked up in your identity. When you walk in your identity, destiny beckons.
Challenges are the platform to launch one into their destiny. Goliath was born to reveal David as a warrior-king. Problems come to show and reveal who you are.
You cannot function in power outside your identity.
God operates in the confines of His identity. His ways are from everlasting to everlasting. He is unchanging. He is the High and Lofty One.
Authority comprises the elements of identity.
Strength is vested and manifested in character. Character is a factor of one’s attributes and posture.
To be in Christ is to be in the anointing for He is the Anointed One. We are walking in sonship through His Lordship as we identify with the anointing in Him.
The heart is the locus of the human personality. As long as the heart is not yielded to the Lord, the person is not under the Lordship of Christ. His government is not yet in place. God wants to have Lordship over your mind, heart and will.
Submission to the Lordship of Christ gives you access to reside inside the anointing
Being inside the anointing means you are in the timeline of in Him. This means that you are in the timeline of everything that is in Christ. When you are in Him, residing in His anointing, you are able to go wherever He goes. It becomes easy to obey Him because you touch base with your identity. We are to reside in the Alpha and the Omega.
Being in Christ means you are residing in the Father. It becomes difficult to obey Christ when you are not in Him.
There is a level of identity that you can’t touch base with if you are not in Christ. Identity goes hand in hand with anointing.
When you are in Christ, there is no limitation in terms of time. The past, present and future are one thing. You can go to the past and address or deprogram the wrong foundations. You can even go beyond the date of your birth and into the future.
A person who walks in the fullness of their identity cannot fall into sin because their identity is derived from and configured by Christ. They are walking not in their strength but in the strength of Christ.
When you are in Christ, you partake His character. You become transformed from the inside. You become that which you behold. Meditating on the truth will give you hope where there is no hope.
As believers, it’s profitable for us to meditate on the truth of who God is. It enables us to find security in Him.
God wants to establish righteousness and justice in our lives. This way, we will impact the gates with His government.
The throne of God denotes posture and position that generates itself from eternity to eternity. It is the supernatural seat of His power and who He is. It is generative and not static. Even if you spent 10 billion years trying to know Him, you will not have Him figured out. His ways are not our ways.
A foundation is a prepared surface on which a structure is built. Everything about God is perfect because the foundation is perfect.
We can trust what God says because He is perfect. He is righteousness and justice.
Righteousness flows from the holiness of God. Holiness is a state. It is His posture.
Your relationship with a righteous God will determine everything that is right. There can never be righteousness without relationship.
When you have a real relationship with God, His righteousness will teach you what is sin and to turn away from it. Everything God is is righteous.
Your relationship with God is what will help you relate with other people. Success in your relationship with others is on the basis of your success in relating with God.
Justice means what needs to happen in a given situation. It’s a qualitative set of actions. God does not change or need correction. He is perfect and always straight.
The reason why God is righteous is because He is perfect. He is perfection personified.
God does not conform to anything that is out of Himself.
God is perfect love. He is love and love is God. Love is not a characteristic of God, it’s who He is.
The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]
1 John 4:8 (AMP)
Holiness originates from God. God is not a person trying to conform to a standard. He is the standard.
The throne of God is constituted by who He is.
When God does anything, He does it in the right way because He is the right way.
God is supreme not because of what He does but because of who He is. He does not need to prove anything.
Righteousness is God’s default setting. Your default setting is your identity in Christ.
The foundation of God is original righteousness. God is righteous meaning He is also perfectly just.
The genesis of everything starts from the throne of God. Every proceeding and absolute divine decree emanates from God’s throne.
The throne of God is a symbol of His power, His might, His authority, will and purpose. God’s throne is not a seat. It’s His posture.
God’s throne does not sit on a flat ground. It seats on His spiritual qualities. The foundation of God’s throne – righteousness and justice – are eternal.
God’s desire has always been to manifest Himself and His Kingdom in a practical manner (through physical actions and relationships) on earth. We must be careful how we relate with others because God wants to manifest His Kingdom through our interactions.
There is a level of power you can never attain to unless your relationships are okay. You also need to check your physical actions because they can limit God from manifesting through you.
Your moments before the throne of God are reserved for purpose, destiny, justice and worship.
This is what the Lord says, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where, then, is a house that you could build for Me? And where will My resting place be?
Isaiah 66:1 (AMP)
Each one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, the second face the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. And the cherubim were lifted up. This was the living creature I saw by the River Chebar.
Ezekiel 10:14-15 (NKJV)
God’s throne is always carried by cherubims. They are beings who have the four faces.
God’s throne is part of the procession of heaven. God doesn’t move without His throne. The throne of God exists because He is. Sacrifices and worship are continually offered on the heavenly altar before His throne.
When you pray for God to show up in a circumstance, He will always shows up with a throne (His presence and glory) carried by His angelic beings into the very circumstance we are in. His glory and presence comes to displace everything in your circumstance.
God is Spirit meaning He is not static. He is able to manifest Himself anytime and anywhere. The presence of God is accompanied by His reign and rulership. His presence manifests for us to submit to His rulership and reign.
God wants whatsoever we desire of Him to be established in our life as it is in heaven.
The rulership of God is singular. It’s not diluted because He reigns everywhere. It proceeds from His throne in eternity.
The throne of God and the glory of God are synonymous.
And the Lord said to Moses, I will do this thing also that you have asked, for you have found favor, loving-kindness, and mercy in My sight and I know you personally and by name. And Moses said, I beseech You, show me Your glory. And God said, I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim My name, THE LORD, before you; for I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy and loving-kindness on whom I will show mercy and loving-kindness.
But, He said, You can not see My face, for no man shall see Me and live. And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place beside Me, and you shall stand upon the rock, And while My glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. Then I will take away My hand and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.
Exodus 33:17-23 (AMP)
Clouds and darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
Psalm 97:2 (NKJV)
The goodness of God is made up of His perfect righteousness and perfect justice. Jesus is the cloud that surrounds the throne of God to protect us from judgement.
Righteousness and justice are the source of God’s glory. The glory of God manifests His righteousness and justice.
Where God rules, He rules with righteousness and justice because that is who He is.
Glory (doxa, which means God’s character) is diabolical to those in the flesh. Where God rules, He rules with justice and righteousness. God desires to rule within us upon the throne of our hearts. He wants to make His righteousness and justice the foundation of our hearts.
God wants us to be the tabernacle of His presence. He wants to rule in us by His Spirit. The reign God is calling us to has to be within us so we can surmount every challenge and battle in our lives. God wants us to assume a posture of identity where we rule together with Him.
The throne of God points to infinity (eternity’s perfect present without past or future).
