Spiritual Perception: Sermon By Bishop Eliakim Osewe
Now about the spiritual gifts (the special endowments of supernatural energy), brethren, I do not want you to be misinformed. You know that when you were heathen, you were led off after idols that could not speak [habitually] as impulse directed and whenever the occasion might arise. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking under the power and influence of the [Holy] Spirit of God can [ever] say, Jesus be cursed! And no one can [really] say, Jesus is [my] Lord, except by and under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit.
Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments (gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit) and they vary, but the [Holy] Spirit remains the same. And there are distinctive varieties of service and ministration, but it is the same Lord [Who is served]. And there are distinctive varieties of operation [of working to accomplish things], but it is the same God Who inspires and energizes them all in all. But to each one is given the manifestation of the [Holy] Spirit [the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit] for good and profit.
1 Corinthians 12:1-7 (AMP)
There is a process that the Lord wants to begin with us.
When you understand spiritual perception, you will not look at things in the same way.
If you can see the invisible, you can do the impossible. Circumstances in life do not define who you are. It is God who defines who you are.
Man cannot do anything unless he’s confronted by a situation. This is how God in you manifests.
So Jesus answered them by saying, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the Son is able to do nothing of Himself (of His own accord); but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way [in His turn]. The Father dearly loves the Son and discloses to (shows) Him everything that He Himself does. And He will disclose to Him (let Him see) greater things yet than these, so that you may marvel and be full of wonder and astonishment. Just as the Father raises up the dead and gives them life [makes them live on], even so the Son also gives life to whomever He wills and is pleased to give it.
John 5:19-21 (AMP)
Jesus was in a position to see what the Father was doing. Exactly what Jesus saw God doing is what Jesus did. He understood times and seasons.
And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse. When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
Mark 5:22-42 (KJV)
The woman with the issue of blood was healed by faith.
Before being made manifest, Jesus had to become sin so we can become the righteousness of God.
In life, when you can perceive things spiritually, God will order your steps. If you can perceive what God is doing, you can realign your will to His purpose.
Before resurrecting Jairus’ daughter, Jesus only took Peter, James and John with Him. These disciples had been with Him at the Mount of Transfiguration.
Until that time, Jesus operated under the anointing but He wanted to show these disciples the dimension of glory.
Anointing comes in levels.
The Holy Spirit is the One who gives gifts to whomever as He pleases. A gift will open doors for you and usher you in the presence of the great.
Glory is in levels. Like Ezekiel’s vision in the temple (Ezekiel 47:1-12), it begins at ankle level (salvation), knee level (sanctification), waist level (ministration), and the level where you have no control and are carried along by the river (glorification).
When the church concentrates on the devil, we will go around the mountain.
The dimension of glory will not be given to boys. It is given to sons.
The Lord is shifting the Church from anointing to glory. Glory comes with weight. When God wants to entrust you with a dimension of glory, it is a seat. It is not a title.
Don’t attempt to go where God has not sent you.
There’s something that comes with the seat that God gives you. It is between you and God. Glory comes with weight.
Spiritual perception gives you the ability to see with spiritual sight and provides instant knowledge that changes facts to truth.
When you can perceive things in the spirit, you operate in the realms of God, not man.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
In the realm of the spirit, there is no failure, disability or sickness.
There is carnal perception and spiritual perception.
God created a man, not a baby. Adam operated in high levels of spiritual perception. He could perceive what an animal was called.
When you move in spiritual perception, you will not struggle. Humanity was led into disarray when Adam disobeyed God. We became locked up in carnal perception.
God allows situations to reveal Himself.
Jesus cannot tell you to do something that you don’t have the ability to do. When He told the disciples to feed the 5000 men, women and children, the 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread of the boy were more than enough.
For God to raise a capacity in you, He has to raise a situation.
Glory moves in levels and dimensions.
For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!].
2 Corinthians 4:17 (AMP)
Weight is not gifts of the Spirit. It is doxa – the righteousness of God. It is kabod – the power of God.
We want to have wealth and honour but it attracts afflictions.
To move from manifestations to glory, you must have:
1. Tribulations, Trials & Persecutions
Establishing and strengthening the souls and the hearts of the disciples, urging and warning and encouraging them to stand firm in the faith, and [telling them] that it is through many hardships and tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.
Acts 14:22 (AMP)
Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4 (AMP)
Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.
James 1:12 (AMP)
When trials come, dance.
God is the builder of the house. You are the house. He builds a skyscraper with no elevator. The process is the stairs.
To hold and embrace the dimensions of glory, certain things have to die.
The spirit realm is an eternal realm, more real than our physical realm.
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, the myrtle, and the wild olive; I will set the cypress in the desert, the plane [tree] and the pine [tree] together, that men may see and know and consider and understand together that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
Isaiah 41:19-20 (AMP)
But He knows the way that I take [He has concern for it, appreciates, and pays attention to it]. When He has tried me, I shall come forth as refined gold [pure and luminous].
Job 23:10 (AMP)
God likes killing the flesh.
2. Revelation
The Church is built on the revelation of God.
Revelation erases the borders of impossibilities. This means that defeat and failure is not an option for you.
Purpose to walk in the revelation of God.
God will allow a situation for revelation. When God wants to reveal Himself, He reveals His pattern and blueprint.
Abraham was asked by God to sacrifice Isaac. He was obedient because he knew that the same God that gave him Isaac would be faithful. Abraham saw a ram stuck in the thicket that God had provided in place of Isaac as God was testing him.
God allowed a situation to test the faith of Abraham and for revelation.
Don’t look at things in the natural. The things that are unseen are permanent.
3. Acceleration
Revelation is the key to acceleration. What would have taken 10 years can be done in 1 year.
Revealed things belong to us. The spirit realm is the realm of eternity.
And Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink, for there is the sound of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down upon the earth and put his face between his knees And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up and looked and said, There is nothing. Elijah said, Go again seven times. And at the seventh time the servant said, A cloud as small as a man’s hand is arising out of the sea. And Elijah said, Go up, say to Ahab, Hitch your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you. In a little while, the heavens were black with wind-swept clouds, and there was a great rain. And Ahab went to Jezreel. The hand of the Lord was on Elijah. He girded up his loins and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel [nearly twenty miles].
1 Kings 18:41-46 (AMP)
Ahab is the carnal man. Elijah represented the spirit man.
The natural man cannot outrun the spirit man unless you allow it.
The spirit man will accelerate if you can grasp the spiritual dimension. Elijah saw the abundance of rain.
4. Transformation
You are the prophet of your own destiny. You don’t need someone to prophesy over you.
Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Romans 12:2 (AMP)
As a man thinketh in his heart or mind, so is he.
Our mind has been locked up in carnal perception since the fall of man.
When you get born again, your mind gets renewed in line with God’s word.
