Assembled For A Purpose: Sermon By Bishop Mulumbi

1 And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem. Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building: But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood. Howbeit the Lord God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:

6 And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. 10 Take heed now; for the Lord hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it. 11 Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat, 12 And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the Lord, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things: 13 Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the Lord, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the Lord. 14 He gave of gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; silver also for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service: 15 Even the weight for the candlesticks of gold, and for their lamps of gold, by weight for every candlestick, and for the lamps thereof: and for the candlesticks of silver by weight, both for the candlestick, and also for the lamps thereof, according to the use of every candlestick. 16 And by weight he gave gold for the tables of shewbread, for every table; and likewise silver for the tables of silver:

18 And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubims, that spread out their wings, and covered the ark of the covenant of the Lord. 19 All this, said David, the Lord made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern. 20 And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord. 21 And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with thee for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee for all manner of workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.

1 Chronicles 28:1-4, 6, 9-16, 18-21 (KJV)

God will never assemble people without a purpose. Before God begins a purpose He assembles a people. God assembles a people for the sake of His purpose.

Every time God develops a thought in His mind, it’s already a finished work.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Genesis 1:26 KJV

God will never take us through things He has not gone through Himself. As God created man, He assembled Himself.

Jesus is the wisdom of God because He is the one that articulates the purpose of God.

God will always speak forth His purpose. He will draw a man into His heart and let Him tap into His wisdom and then the man articulates His purpose.

There are things a man cannot catch unless they are written by the hand of God in his spirit.

God will always put people in places of access according to their levels. Everything that God has made accessible is because God has a purpose.

False prophets don’t come for themselves. They come to reveal where the hearts of God’s people are. They don’t determine what to preach or not to preach.

David assembled the people from all levels so that he can speak to them the mind of God.

For God to give a man a responsibility, He has to give the revelation to another man. In 1st Chronicles Chapter 28, David was a prophetic voice to Solomon and to the nation of Israel. He articulated to Solomon and to the people the purpose of God. Every true prophet must prophesy over something that he carries in his heart. These things must create a passion in Him.

When the purpose of God is fulfilled, your individual purpose is fulfilled. When God’s purpose is frustrated, your purpose will also be frustrated.

When you frustrate the purpose of God, you’ll be saved but you’ll never succeed. You will be too secure where the enemy cannot kill you but neither can you prosper.

In the case of the Israelites when the Midianites came and invaded them, they were allowed to sow but the enemy reaped where they had sown.

And Gideon said unto him, “Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? And where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

Judges 6:13 KJV

God does not visit people who do not have questions. God only visits people who are hungry for Him. He does not visit contented people. The question in Gideon’s heart was his might.

The people who stop God from moving are those who think they know God. They put God in a box.

Before God transitions a people, He prepares them for the transition by empowering them with everything they need for the transition.

The problem with going around a mountain is that you want to possess the mountain that’s not yours.

There is a place for us to grow before we possess the city.

To serve God effectively, the heart must be perfect and the mind willing. What disturbs a willing mind is a corrupt heart. A corrupt heart will develop a rebellious mind. A perfect heart will serve God willingly. One will not be forced to do things.

The day of the Lord is the day that the purpose of God must be fulfilled. In the day of the Lord, the people will be willing.

When the time comes for a people to do what God created them to do – to fulfill His purpose – He addresses their hearts and imagination.

The pattern of God is given to one heart and written in one spirit. God will always give the vision to one man so that he can write it in the hearts of his people. The things of God are only received by people who are glad. If a people are not glad, they’ll reject it.

When God assembles a people for His purpose, He articulates the pattern.

God addresses according to weight. Everybody is carrying a different weight for different things.

God will deposit things in us according to our ability to carry weights. If we carry weight in gold, we should give in gold not silver.

If you cannot define a word, you cannot live within its power. It is courage that makes people do the will of God. Only courageous people can dislodge the enemy and enthrone God.

Unless you see yourself as strong, there are things you will never try. We need to take our strength and be courageous.

The things of God are not done by people who are not with you. Are you with the vision or against the vision? God knows our hearts.

The greatest frustration in ministry is being with a people who are not with you. A relationship in which you can’t be open in is not a relationship. A relationship should be a place where you are willing to be open and naked.

God does not allow you to be commanded until He knows your potential. A commander knows the potential of every soldier. You are given your work according to your potential.

God does not command a people who have no potential. Honour is the key for inheritance.

The mantle determines your material success. This word will determine the level for the next season.

Humility is the power to discern the purpose of God in you, to submit to the purpose and to do it.
