The Elements Of Glory (Part 4): Sermon By Bishop Gobanga

Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

John 17:1 (NKJV)

Jesus yearned for the Father himself. The Church needs to come back to seeking after the Father. There are things we cannot access unless we have access to the Father.

Jesus prayed to be in close relationship with God. He was interested in relationship.

Love is constant. It doesn’t fluctuate. It means we are not to fluctuate in our love for others.

The reason why God can’t display His glory through us is because we hold onto perceptions and have heart issues.

The glory of God is the magnificence of His character. The gravitas of God is the beauty of His character. It emanates from who He is. He is constant. The glory of God is the beauty of His Spirit. God’s character is the measure of His goodness.

God is Sovereign. He does whatever He wants and not what we want. He remains to be God. Even when God doesn’t answer prayers, He still remains God. God answers our prayers on the basis of who He is.

God’s character is the measure of His goodness and nature. We cannot talk about His goodness without considering His character. Goodness is the nature of God.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

Psalm 23:6 (NKJV)

There is no truth or beauty outside of God. If something is beautiful, it is because of the character of God resident in that person. All things that are beautiful find their source in the character of God. Apart from God we are nothing.

The beauty and all that we are are found in the person of God. Beauty is the aspect of God’s holiness. Character enables one to handle their gifts, talents and abilities.

God is the norm of the truth and all that is beautiful. God gradually invites us to Himself. Seeking God’s presence isn’t a way of getting miracles. God wants us to focus on Him and not on things we can get from Him.

When God is promoting you, He is not drawing you to your breakthroughs, but closer to Himself. Who He is will determine what you will access.

God wants us to have encounters with His manifested presence that transform us. There are things we are hoping for that we can only get when we touch base with divine tangibility. If you want to succeed in ministry, career and family spend time in the presence of God.

God wants us to operate in our native element i.e. in God’s presence. To live a consecrated life, we need to live a life in the sanctum of God’s presence.

A test of maturity for a believer is hearing God in noisy chaotic environments. We also need to be quiet internally and stop the arguments of the will between the spirit-man and the Spirit of God.

Encountering God is meant to be an eternal experience not a one time event. There should be constant transaction with Him. Ancient paths take us back to Eden (the presence of God). God wants us to be a divine portal where angels descend and ascend. Jacob knew this reality in Bethel.

Angels cannot minister to one if you are carnal. They manifest in a place of holiness. They are our servants and requires us to be holy. We need to be in a space where we are aware that God’s presence is present.

And I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the Lord of hosts

Haggai 2:7 (NKJV)

Glory talks of the weight of God being thrown around. When God’s glory descends, all flesh dies. When God’s glory checks in, self dies. God’s beauty is also displayed in the radiance of His perfection. The fire of the glory of God extinguishes impurity. It is laser sharp.

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 5:48 (NKJV)

God’s beauty is displayed in the radiance of His perfection. His perfection permeates all His other attributes. Perfection is an expression of each attribute in God’s nature rather than an attribute in itself.

All that is positive in the attributes of God are as a result of His perfection. God has always existed in eternal perfection: “I am that I am”. He never increases nor decreases. Glory is an adorning that speaks of beauty with no blemish.

God does not reason the way we do.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord

Isaiah 55:8 (NKJV)

He sees the end for the beginning. Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure.

Isaiah 46:10 (NKJV)

We are not to settle on seeing people and things the way we do otherwise we will dismiss those who God has seen as people who are going to be helpful to us.

When you are worshipping, you are in an atmospheric realm. True prophetic ministry can only find expression in glory. Glory is the weather pattern of Heaven. When we behold God’s glory, we are constantly being transformed.

Moses wanted more of the revelation of God’s nature not just His works like the multitude he was with. It is who God is that will take you somewhere not what He does.

Hebrews 11 lists people that walked in faith but did not receive their promise. It was a type and shadow of what God had in store.

Abraham saw Christ and rejoiced yet he was in a state of barrenness. There are things that we may desire that God spoke but may belong to future generations

Glory is essential in the Godhead. They cannot do without it. It is for this reason we are not to touch God’s glory. It is His prerogative.

God is God because of glory. Just as the sun is referred to as what it is because of light. When you remove the regalia of a king, he ceases to be king. The life of God lies in His glory. You cannot share God’s glory..

He is a jealous God and does not share His glory with man. It is the spark of divinity. It is glory that destroyed Uzzah when he tried to save the Ark of the Covenant. God’s character is so pure – it is so razor sharp. It obliterates impunity.

For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; for how should My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another.

Isaiah 48:11 (NKJV)

You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.

Genesis 41:40 (NKJV)

Glory refers to the invisible qualities of God that are made physical. The purpose of God is His glory.

The reason we do ministry is for His glory. The reason why we are transitioning is for His glory. His glory is at stake. That is why He chastises us.
